I can't imagine NAV would add weight to the car, all it is a screen some extra rubber, leather and plastic

Yes Navigation will drop your 0-60 times by .4 seconds and guys at the track will laugh at you for adding the extra weight. ![]() Seriously. welcome to the board and enjoy the car. You'll love the navigation option it is very cool.

I am going to take issue with the above. The Bimmers are the best cars on the road, but Navigation is Sub-Par compared to what the competitors have come out with. I, for one, will order NAV in every car I buy from here on it, but, objectively, this NAV system isn't the best.

Go to a dealer, try entering in an address with the knob. And with voice commands. Then you'll know if nav is for you.

One thing though, is that I find iDrive easier to use / more ergonomic than the Nav in the Mercedes E-class.

The first time I saw a Navigation system was in a Tokyo taxi exactly 7 years ago. It was operated by, none other than, an eighty-year old taxi driver. At first, I though I may be in trouble getting into a taxi with an eighty-year old man and a "Nav' I have never seen before (it has views from different angles: top-down, driver's view, map-view, view from car behind, and voice too), but it turns out to be the quickest taxi ride I had to the office (35 min. vs. avg. of 45 min.). You guys may not believe me, but it is still the most sophisticated "Nav" I have ever seen to those in NA now.

Congrats!
And about the Nav. I beg to differ. I have one in my Navigator and one in my previous Maxima. At first, I thought that the BMW nav sucked, big time. Then when I got familiar with it, I actually like it better than the American and Japanese nav systems. The only thing I don't like about the BMW nav is that when you get close to your destination, it doesn't tell you if it's on the right or left, but then again I could just look for myself. lol! Plus one other thing to add, this is one of the most polite navs I've seen/heard. At least for me, this is the only one that says "Please" make a left turn or "Please" make a right turn etc... lol! Again, congrats on your new car, you will definitely enjoy it. ![]()
