Enging misfire/hesitation at 3500 RPM
I have a 2008 E92 335i. December 2010, did the fuel injector recall. August 2011 injectors 1-4 failed and were replaced. At 45,000 miles spark plugs were replaced. Car has 70,000 miles now. Dealer has so far replaced the DSC control module thinking that the car was sending false traction control warning to the car, however, never displaying the traction control light.
In gears 4,5, and 6, between 3000-4500 RPM, the car hesitates or misfire at full throttle, basically as if I was going to pass someone on the highway. Car is not throwing any codes at all. Never noticed at low gears or city driving, only highway. I have read that carbon buildup, spark plugs, coils, injectors, or ecu can all be possible issues. But as I said, 4 injectors new as of August, and the other two have a year on them. Spark plugs have 25,000 miles. No mods to the car. Car is still under 100,000 BMW Maintenance and CPO warranty. Any insight into what this can be. It has been in twice to the shop so far and still have issues. Thanks |

I've had something similar and i've changed the 3 old injectors which their part # did not end with 261, i've followed vasilalovs DIY & also created one my self after and all is good now. No hesitation/hiccups and most of all car does not feel like its misfiring anymore. I was stock when it started happening, then i went FBO and was still the same, changed the 3 injectors i said above and i'm good. But i do need to get my carbon cleaned up though, I've opened it up and they are filthy!

Carbon Buildup on the Intake Valves has nothing to do with the car misfiring. Based on what the OP is describing, it's either a bad spark plug or a bad injector.

Yeah, check out my DIY on changing Injectors, well basically look at the pics and you'll get an idea of what to do. If you're just checking, simply unscrew the 3/4 screws on the engine cover, slide it out and Injector's are all visible after..
Give it a shot, it's simple. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=651538

Ok, Good...Maybe carbon buildup? or you got 1 of the injectors on its way out...idk, i just told you to try the above, because it fixed my problem.

I appreciate the help. I really want to believe its not the injectors since they are all new. I want to think its the coils or carbon build up. Car goes back to BMW on Tuesday...

I will defiantly let you know what it is. I already went back and took one of the head techs at my dealership for a ride and was able to duplicate the problem with him in it.
