Downpipes. How Many Would Be Interested?
Whats up Gang?
Ok, So I have been searching around and going through my little network of car people to see who would want to make some downpipes for our car. Only people right now that make DP's are SS, but they are not cheap at all...and doesnt look like anyone else is going to be releasing them anytime soon. I have someone (and checking with few more) who would be willing to fab up some custom downpipes for my car, and wanted to see if there is a demand from everyone because we can use mine as a Jig and make some more. The Downpipes would be WITH OUT cats. The main question is how much would everyone be willing to pay for a good set of downpipes? I will use my car as the test queen and do some before and after DYNO runs to show the increase. I am getting a set made for my car regardless, but just wanted to see if there was enough interest from everyone else, if so I an get a bundle of them made and we can do a little group buy on them. Let me know people... im sure a set of DP's on our car is going to make great power ....matched up with PROcede new V2.0, exhaust, etc this car is going to get close to 400whp p.s This is not a for sure thing. I do know that I am getting a set made for my car regardless but making a bundle of them would depend on how many people would want them and how much they would go for. |

Thats what I am trying to shoot for.... of coures the first set (mine) are going to be a bit more due to the fabing and labor, but if there is a demand for more, we can just use it as a Jig and get them done cheaper.
Im trying to see how many people would want them so I can give them that number and they would let me know. |

this sounds like a great idea
How would you deal with boost spikes because of the downpipes? Count me in for $400. For the set of pipes. and $500 for pipes with highflow cats. *dependant on my exh. fab guy |

that might be a bit to cheap but we will see. high flow cats alone are way more than 100 bucks.... We will not be doing any with high flow cats.

I am interested.
Btw, I think that it would make sense to have hi-flow cats, but after the downpipes. High flow cats further back are not really a restriction and they need to be there sooner or later to sniff clean. Working on the exhaust twice (just to add cats) is just waste of money. |

CEA... this is just a side note, but possibly something to keep in mind. With some cars when you remove your cats and replace them with a new testpipe/downpipe you will sometimes get a horrible sounding rasp if you don't use some type resonator in place of them. I have ZERO experience with removing the cats on this car so it could very well not be an issue to even consider, but I just figured that I would throw this out there just in case. One other question. Are the downpipes on your sedan the same as the coupe or are they different?

Im down price/dyno dependant. Hopefully there will be no issues with the o2 sensor... or at least a way to get around it.

I think you are right , I had zero rasp with my catless turbo s2k, but on my bro's 350z it sounded horrible. Hmm... so if the downpipes are the same, what is different about the rest of the exhaust since a lot of companies say that some exhausts are only for a coupe or sedan. Next thing thta i'm thinking about is how much of a PITA is the install going to be. I haven't even crawled under the new car yet, I have to check it out, but i'm guessing that it will be tight working where the turbos are.
