No windscreen washer jets

Since last week I noted that no jet spray on the windscreen when I press the stalk, although I can hear the sound of the motor, duly top up the fluid but still no jet on the windscreen, the headlight and rear screen washer work fine.

Rather than risking burning out the motor, I stopped trying. Does anyone has this experience - how can I identify the actual cause which prevent the jets from coming onto the front windscreen?

I had the same problem but i have fixed it! Plenty of info on the forum on this..it's a lot more common than you think, search is your friend

The pipeline that is connected to my jet nozzles had come off..not sure how that happened..reconnected it and bob is your uncle. To access the pipeline, you need to take the black plastic(in the middle just above the nozzle exit point) cover held by 6 screws off and have a look underneath. Failing that try some Calgon tablets..supposed to help clear some of the gunk that's blocking the pipeline. If you are good with tools(which i'm not ) you could access the reservoir bottle and pump by taking the driver's side wheel off-the pump or filter is hidden under the wheel arch liner. Some people have tried cleaning the filter. Good luck! It ain't cheap if you are taking it to the dealers from what i gather.

Turns out it's the clogged filter being the offending item, cleared out and all is well, my mechanic friend decided not to refit the filter in case of future blockage - I hope he's right.

Get yourself a new mechanic friend. So instead of having a removeable, accessible, cleanable, replaceable filter your next blockage will be in the pipework and you'll need to remove the wing to replace it. The filter is there for a reason even if it does block easily.

I had the same problem. Dealer sorted it for a fee. It does seem odd this is such a common problem on our cars. I never had this issue on any previous cars.

Perhaps we just have a super efficient filter that catches everything - having said that, if my previous cars didn't have effecient filters they never got blocked pipes either!

I agree that the filter is there for a reason but clearly in my case it causes more harm than good, and even if it takes half the time (2 years) for the problem to recur, I standby my mechanic friend and see what happens

Your motor already broken just change it and it will spray again. There is some plastic thing inside of the motor which pumps the water when it's broken you can still here the motor but no spray.

P.S.
It is cheap part and easy to replace.

Search other car forums & you'll find it a common problem on many cars, not just BMWs, & if you don't want a much more expensive fix next time I should take xenon's excellent advice!

Yours well noted but it's a bit late now since the wheel and wheel arch liner is back in place (I presume that's what you mean xenon to remove the wing to replace it), I am too useless in anytihng mechanical to attempt it myself and hope for the best
