Thinking of going from 335d to X5D...
I have my 3rd 335d, I started in 2009, 2010 and now my loaded 2011.
My only problem is I have 3 kids and I hate to admit it, but I need more room..... I hate to admit it when my wife is right, I need more space. Anyone switch to the X5 D? Any thoughts? Thanks in advance. |

I haven't, but a currently have a 335D and we have our first child on the way in July. A boy....Yeah!!!! I was curious as to how the 335D held up with the kids if you don't mind me asking?

Congrats on ur baby! We have a 4month old and i think it's kinda tight with the car seat reversed for newborns. Trunk space fits stroller and other gear just fine IMO. If u are over 6 feet tall, I would suggest placing the car seat behind the front passenger seat. Just my two cents. Despite those issues we love our car!!

F11 535d? That would be the best compromise and its hugely practical and more efficient, luxurious and I think more comfortable yet sporty than the X5. Its quicker too as its lighter and I think in M Sport guise, better looking.

I have an X5 (not a d) but, I've driven the X5d quite a bit and like it a lot. I'm not sure the third row seating would really be doing you many favors with 3 kids though. It eats up a lot of cargo space and isn't going to be easy to access if your kids are in car seats.

I say f10 m5!
Lol, but the x5 is a great car, parents had an 09 4.8 and it sounded beastly and was a great suv overall. We did have a x5d for a day while ours needed some service. I remember it having good torque but had an annoying ticking sound, ( I think the 335d has this aswell?) nothing too bad, but definetly not like the 4.8. |

Do you only have one car? If so, I'd say you might want to check out the x5 (and, perhaps others). I will say though that my wife has a x5 4.8 and the interior is not as spacious as you may think. The third row is also not really for car seats or full-sized people, so depending on the ages of your little ones, you may need to check out some other brands just to know your options (especially if you have two or more in car seats/boosters).
Maybe you can stick a TRD Supercharger onto a Toyota Sienna and have the baddest soccer-mom/dad car on the block ![]() Good luck! |

Thanks for all the well wishes!
I drove a 535x for a week and did not like the car at all, thus Im not very excited about a 535d. My dad has a 7 hybrid that is awesome, I may look for a used 7 series. I am going to drive the X5d this week to see how I like it. |

Went from a 335xi sedan to my x5d due to fuel pumps. Couldn't be happier! Not a single problem. Don't have kids but I'm always bus'n my friends around just because my car is the biggest one and it's really roomy out of the group. We road tripped from wi to fl during spring break last year with 6 ppl and each person had luggage. 5 in the front, rotated 6th person to back of car and used the bags as pillows and basically a bed in the back. Height range was 5'4-5'10. The extra compartment where the spare would be is also an amazing feature! Do not add the third row seats, I was very close in adding it but sat in an x5 with it and thanked god every day I didn't add that feature. Yes its good for midgets or kids up to 6. Anything more and it's terrible anything room!
Good luck! |

So I traded in my 335d. Waiting for dealer to get me a used x5d. Dealer gave me a 2011 335xi......
This 335xi is okay. Gas mileage is poor and not even close to the diesel. Boring to drive vs. the d. I miss my d!!!!!! I told dealer to get me the 335d back. |

One guy on here had a 335d and went to an MB E series diesel for more room.
Have you looked into the ML350 Diesel? very nice, or any of VW's offerings? Porsche is coming with one soon too! My problem with those SUV diesels, they are tanks, weighing almost 5000lbs, INSANE BMW needs to step up its diesel game! BTW trading in your d so soon, so many? They dont really break in till after 20k miles |

no x5 xdrive 40d in states yet. I wish
I have no idea why I keep seeing a new 335d and buying it. I know that after 20k they really break in. I may skip the x5d and get another 335d |
