M-Sport Bumpers paint + Install - Variance in prices

I just ordered the M Sport bumper kit from Tischer and will be picking up tomorrow

I figured I could get some advice from fellow members in the area. I've done an extensive search about body shops in the area, and it seems most members have their go to/preference on shops in the area.

Since I work in the crystal city area, the closer the shop the better. I've seen D & V come up a few times, and it sounds like they do great work, but are also the priciest. They are also a bit of a drive from me, closer would be preferable. I've gotten quotes from the following shops:

Fine Line Auto Body in Shirlington - ~$600 for paint + Install (Cheapest option)
Spectrum Auto Body in Shirlington - ~$1000-$1200 for both
Wagon Works in Alexandria - ~$800 for both
D & V in Sterling - $1200-$1500 for both.

While I get that you "get what you pay for" I don't want to overpay as some members have in the past. Any advice or experiences with any of the above shops/other shops you all could provide would be awesome!

Photo shoot to come once I get these on, coils installed by Clem, and new summers put on as well!

saw your post on the FS forum.. just thought id chime in..

it looks like your getting screwed by almost everyone on that list besides the one for $600. 600 is about what you SHOULD spend for paint (350) install (250)

but, I know you dont have this option, I got my front bumper painted for $110 and installed it myself... it wasn't too hard if you have any sort of experience working on cars. Theres really good DIY thread on it.

GL!! Enjoy your m-sport they really make our e92's look aggressive

the variance in prices is very annoying and its amazing how some shops seem to not want business...

with that said, I had my bumper painted at first choice auto, mine came unprimed which was extremely annoying and ended up costing an extra 300 bucks to prep but i recommend going and talking to Ray, he does amazing work and is the exclusive repair shop for bmw alexandria

Aaron painted my oem m sport bumpers and oem m3 sides and installed them all for 600 dollars, I can't lie either but I can feel a difference between the two colors.

I had it painted at D and V, and installed it myself. Only paid for the bumper and paint.

a solid 4-5 hour job (plus I had to figure some of out out on my own). An experienced professional with a shop should only take maybe 2 hours plus paint.

Thanks for the feedback all - Ended up dropping off everything at D & V today. Super friendly staff, and promised short turn around time, which is important to me. Probably paying a little too much, but it's worth the piece of mind.

Will have pics of everything up soon!

Eugene, $1200-1500 for paint/install on front/rear bumpers is a little ridiculous. It should be a $7-800 job. As always, I would help you install them, if you just dropped them off for paint.

Thanks Rob! I ended up dropping everything off Saturday, car should be done by tomorrow. Paid a little more than most other shops quoted, but I'm confident the guys at D & V will do the best job.

Right now it is. The rear bumper already came with PDC cutouts. The front did not, BUT it has guides on the inside for PDC cutouts. Talked to the GM Ron, who said it shouldn't be a problem to do the cutouts and keep my front PDC. We'll see how that goes.

you might have to cut a holes on bumper reinforcement bar for two middle PDCs, not enough room for PDC sensors between m bumper and metal bar. Price not bad for all those works;
pm me if you need any help.

Looks awesome, man. E90 LCI M-Sport ftw! Why didn't my OEM M-Sport come with front PDC factory, only rear?

Thanks! I was so back and forth on getting these, but I'm glad I did.

US spec E90's w/factory M sport ONLY come with rear PDC as I understand. The shop had to modify the front so the two middle sensors fit, otherwise they were pushing against the reinforcement bar. I think they might have cut holes somewhere in there in order to get them to sit right.

I've heard of worse. Someone on the forum paid like $2500 to get it done. Where did you get yours done?

Old thread but going through the same thing, ordered the M Sport kit for my LCI E91. I'll likely use D&V as they're local, have used them before with great success, and I can trust them.

Waiting for my quote but I expect it to be well above $1k.

At least I don't have front PDC.
