Heading to the strip tomorrow..any advice?
Goin' to an import vs. domestics event at Raceway Park in NJ tomorrow..I've never been to the strip so I'm going solely to gain experience. I'll be running my stock RFT's and M-Sport wheels tomorrow. Very scared for any warranty issues to arise after my last debacle but I've been driving the car fairly hard when its safe at night on the highway equivalent to that of the strip..I have OCD when it comes to the car and before I shut it off, I ALWAYS check for codes. Nothing yet.
I wanted to run a 70/30 meth mix, but even with all this driving I've been doing since Monday, I haven't seen the WW fluid low indicator light yet. Thinking of spaying out my current mix but not sure yet lol. Anyways could use some wise words of wisdom and reassuring advice about doing well tomorrow and that nothing will go wrong with the car.. |

Don't worry too much about reaction time as it has no effect on your ET, but if you are aiming for a decent reaction time, go on the 3rd yellow light (don't worry, you won't redlight).
Don't worry about who you are 'racing' against, just concentrate on your launch and nail your shift points if you are manual. And finally, have fun! |

these are my settings and I am hitting 17.1 - 17.7 and I am running the 12/4 interface with the 12/5 firmware - perhaps something has changed - I emailed Terry about it. Thanks.

I'm pretty disappointed with the numbers I got considering the mods I have. the 13.1 run I had an additive of 50 and brake boosted between 1500-2000 RPM's and started at first gear. The 12.9 run, I emailed Terry before hand and he told me to launch at 2nd gear brake boosting at or a lil above 2000 RPM's. I was so busy looking at my RPM's that I had a shitty reaction time the second run and became distracted to the point I did some sloppy shifting even though I got a better time. Assuming I get rid of my RFT's..that should cut down .2 seconds..with some more practiced launches..I should get maybe another .1 or .2 seconds down. But that still puts me in the mid-12's which should not be happening with these mods. Last edited by sA x sKy; 03-11-2012 at 05:53 PM.. |

From Terry: "With a 1.8 60 you'll run around 12.40s. That is about as much as you
can hope for from your car without slicks or an N54 motor transplant. " I fucking hate the N55. I really fucking hate it. |

Curious, but what were you expecting? With your current mods, you should be around 350-360whp which is in line with what you trapped in the 1/4 mile. Mid 12's is really doable with a decent launch especially since you are AWD.

20 inch rims will hurt performance regardless if he has decent tires, what was his trap speed if you remember? I still say those are decent times for your car especially since it was your first time. |

Just get that 60' down to 1.7-1.8 and you'll be in the mid 12s. Maybe Terry didn't know you have an Xi. With those you just launch as hard as you can in 1st gear! Don't expect a heavy Xi steptronic to run the same times as a lighter 135i DCT though.

Anyways, over the phone, he told me to brake boost as high as possible in first gear. Terry told me to brake boost around 2K at 2nd gear. Rick knew I had AWD..LITERALLY 2 min ago Terry just found out I have an XI..apparently I should have been listening to Rick's advice but since he's kinda crazy with his car, I decided to listen to Terry. I could have easily hit a 12.7 or something had I got the better launch. |

Terry: "Oh, AWD? Well forget that launching in 2nd gear business then. You
need to launch in 1st gear as hard as possible. How did you get a 2.4 60' with AWD? LOL I assumed you were spinning." Epic fail. |
