MTEC H8 LED or Lux H8

I am torn. I do like the color of the MTEC but LUX seems brighter. If someone can post picture of MTEC and LUX daylight picture that would be great.

We did a comparison a while back already with them in our shop. We found that the LUX is still brighter then the MTEC ones: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=636604

After using Mtec H8 LED for couple of months I wonder if Mtec is better or LUX is better. So today, I reinstalled LUX to the driver side and put my car under the sun to do a comparison:

You can see the outer ring is brighter on the drive side (LUX) comparing to the passenger side (Mtec). In person, I can tell the difference also even though Mtec is whiter comparing to LUX.

So guess what, I am switching back to LUX, period.

Nice pics but my pic is under direct sunlight (vs yours under the shade) and that's the point I am tring to make.

i have the lux and i think its great. I see alot of other cars using non oem led's and having dim outer rings. I personally don't like it. Also Marc has superb customer service, which would make me want to purchase from him again for the other family bmw's. I had an issue with one of the passenger side lights, i emailed him my receipt and address and he sent it out to me the next day. i haven't tried the Mtec, so i couldn't comment on that

nice comparo pic!

the only problem with the E92's is that the rings are not evenly lit, and will change in output depending on the angle of view.

Although it's real close, I can see the picture bias towards the drivers side (Lux), since I can see part of your side door handle vs. none on the passenger side, which means you are probably looking more head on the Lux than the MTEC. How this impacts the lighting on the E92, I don't know, but there is some difference still (almost impossible to take a perfect comparo pic).

Nevertheless, you are able to see in person which one is brighter, and have chosen the Lux.

Good observation. Really good observation. The driver side door was not closed and that's why you can see that driver door handle. Plus to be honest I tried to stand as close to the middle as possible but I am just a human and I am not perfect. But in person you can really tell the difference. Trust me I really hope Mtec is brighter as I really like the way the bulb looks (chrome).

I think in general, the forum's consensus is the following:

Pre-LCI E90: MTEC > LUX
E92: LUX > MTEC (I've seen winning comparos for both, but overall trend is Lux)

either way you go, you pretty much have to be at the perfect angle to see that outer ring lit up at all on a sunny day.

good to know! any information/pictures on the packaging of the unit?

One of the big benefits of the current pre-lci e90 mtechs is the housing design.

Mtec on the left. LUX on the right. Both are for my e92.

For the Pre-LCI E90's, they are a different bulb, which MTECH has the clear advantage in packaging:

MTECH - PreLCI-E90: No dangling wires, so far see to be brighter.

LUX - PreLCI- E90
