Alpine upgrade - Possible solution?
from what i know so far is ppl recoding HU to HIFI after the alpine upgrade suffer problems with pdc/bluetooth volume being too low or too high. Uncoded is fine but we have to live with the bad EQ.
so i was thinking, is there away to fit an equaliser in between the HU and the alpine amp? are there any equalisers that have speaker level OUTPUTS? |

So i have to get convertors to rca, thats cool.
i literally just came back from BMW and i said i want to get my HU coded like they do in the alpine upgrade. he said they would only code it if they fit the upgrade. he said this is because if they code it and the system doesnt recognise the upgrade, or it wasnt fitted properly, it could delete stuff off the system requiring a new HU! is he chatting rubbish or is this a real risk with coding? anyways they quoted me £590 for parts fitting and coding. its £90 more than another guy who quoted but includes coding. would this be a no go then? But if im going to spend £600 i prefer your solution with the 6 channel amp. however what can i do about coding it (im assuming it still needs to be coded like u say)? shall i go to some bmw specialist with autologic who says they havent done it before but they can try? is there a risk of them messing things up? i keep changing plans im getting annoyed with myself lol |

Its rubbish, he is taking the piss, whatever.
The HiFi headunit isn't on the MOST bus, quite simply, the car doesn't know what its hooked up to, so as long as you do not do something to fry any components you will be fine. Try a different dealer, or beg and plead and tell them its at your risk. Autologic should also be able although I am unsure of the required steps. |

u mean base stereo, not hifi hu right?
i think im going to go for the audiocontrol lc6i and xd600/6 without recoding and replace front & rear mids. might leave the underseat subs n see what they sound like powered up. or is there no point powering rear deck?* what do u think about the lc6i? the ms-8 and cleansweep are a bit expensive ![]() iv sent a pm to technic about wiring this up cos my head really hurts when i think about it. think i def need his harness. just need to get my head around the wiring for all 6 channels |

A signal flattener is an acceptable solution if you prefer that route. I dont have experience other than with ms8. But the ms8 did well. Only get an ms8 if you want it to auto time align, level match, and eq your system. Else the others are fine. The technic harness + underseat jumpers will take care of the wiring for you ![]() Try it. If you want to go further, you can! |

Ok i think i have finally got my head around the wiring. hopefully gna order harness, woofer cables and jumpers and speaker adaptors from technic soonish.
* So at the moment ive got 2 options. Either get it recoded or use the audiocontrol lc6ci. im going to go to an indy with autologic on the weekend n see if he can code it so i can get a rough idea on price. Assumming its the same price, what option would you go for and why? I know if i use the lc6i, i can use technic's harness straight into the lc6i. but if i get it recoded, can i simply use the harness straight into the x600/6 or is some sort of convertor/adaptor required? |

lol so you've realised that I have little experience in installs. I am planning to do the install with my mate (whos done loads of install before but not on bmws), and use b33m3rs excellent install guide. i might document it and do a write up, if it works that is
![]() ok so at the moment I have 2 options: 1) recode HU and use low level signals straight into xd600/6 amp 2) do not recode and use hi level signals into the audiocontrol lc6i and then into the amp. I now need to write both methods up, listing the costs for each one and advantages and disadvantages. Then hopefully i can compare. But i will probably find out by this weekend if that indy can recode it. Im also planning on phoning a few other dealers and hopefully one of them will say yes. i have found out from technic that option 1 is the best as it recodes. im just praying that i can get someone to do it. |

3rd option is using cleansweep instead. (i just realised the lc6i is a "LINE OUTPUT SIGNAL CONVERTER W/ INTERNAL SUMMING") dont really have a clue if thats the same as cleansweep but i suspect its slightly different. I did say cleansweep was out of budget but ive found somewhere where i can get it for $230 plus $58.10
