delivery delayed, anyone else hear this?
I ordered my 330i on Sunday the 23rd (October). Very positive experience all the way around. On Friday the 28th I emailed my sales guy and asked how soon I might see a production number (or whatever it's called). He replied it was still about a week away. When I ordered the car I was told I was looking at late December delivery, or about 2 months leadtime. Originally I wanted aluminum trim but was told that they had just been informed this would add as much as 2 months to the leadtime, with delivery likely pushed out to February. I opted for the standard wood trim and December delivery.
Tonight I received the following email: We just received notification that production of the car might not begin till Jan. at the latest. This will put delivery in February. At the worst case. Do you want me to modify the trim to aluminum? Is anyone else hearing of such a delay? He's offering to switch the trim back to aluminum, implying that the additional delay would mean I could now get it just as quickly as wood. I've emailed him asking to clarify that point. This all doesn't sound right, based on other leadtime-related posts I'm reading here, which all seem to be in the 2-month range. Can anyone shed any light on this?

I ordered last Wednesday (26th). I got a production number on Friday and my car is scheduled to complete production on November 9th. So, I don't know why your car would take so long.

hmm...has red flags all over it.
Just does not sound right. Consider shopping your quote elsewhere to see if other local dealers have the same problem.

![]() Priority 1 (customer sold units) have priority over dealer stock. According to a bulletin sent out by BMW these are the only E90s that are getting Alum Trim. Dealer stock units will be switched to the wood. If the dealer(s) do not modify their orders, BMW will. Word on the street is that BMW is pushing through Priority 1 orders (customer sold unit) attempting to get the unit to customers before the Holidays and prior to BMW going on vacation, Dec. 23- Jan. 2, 2006. A final note, if the dealer was offering a Nov. production car, they could have given you a production # then. Dealers have had the allocation for Nov. production since Sept. *Example: Jan. allocation = March production. Last edited by SCA; 11-01-2005 at 07:11 AM.. |

I'd consider another dealer possibly.
The current dealership may have already used up their Nov. allocations and I think there's only 1-week of Dec. production this year. Good luc.

You are correct sir! From my understanding production will not start back until week 2, 2006. |
