Could use the advice!

Hey guys I am currently working on my first full detail. I have a jet black 07 e90. The car was covered in swirls marks and light scratches. I went out and bought a new porter cable 7424xp. To remove to swirl marks I purchased the Wolfgang 3.0 combo. After applying the swirl remover I was still noticing scratches which was a huge improvement from how it before. I could only see them in the 500 watt halogen light. Im kinda of OCD about my car and was wondering is thus normal? Will I not be able to get all of the scratches that I cant see without the light out or is this normal? Want to know before I get much further. Thanks

You might need to spend more time/more passes/switch to a more abrasive polish first in order to remove all of the scratches

What pad are you using? and what speed on the PC? Are you applying any pressure when using the PC?

As mentioned above, you may need multiple passes. FYI, the Finishing Glaze is more of a light polish than it is a glaze, so it should clean up an haziness left behind by the Total Swirl Remover.

There's also a chance you may need to try a different product to get the results you desire; and depending on the defects/paint condition, may need to attack it with a rotary. This would be something that would be best left to a professional, as I would not recommend someone new to a rotary to attack Jet Black.

The best thing to do is to try a test spot, and see if it gives you the results you want. You'll have to do some experimentation to find what pad/polish combo works best with the current paint condition. Once you find it, you can then do the rest of the car.

I don't have any personal experience with Jet Black, but its regarded as a very difficult paint to work with and correct. It's sometimes dubbed as a detailer's "worst nightmare." So I wish you the best of luck!

I'm using an orange pad on speed 5. I'm applying about 10lbs of pressure. I went out yesterday and bought the meguiars swirl remover 2.0 and it yielded the same results. I feel like this is possibly the best I could do without creating more damage. I have removed about 95% of the scratches and think it's looks a lot better. I appreciate the advice,

Without having seen the original paint condition, I would say 95% is pretty good. There are some scratches you shouldn't mess with too much, with the best you could do is minimize appearance of them instead of trying to get rid of them and possibly causing more damage or cutting too much clear. If the remaining 5% mostly consists of that type of RIDS, I would be happy with it.
