Calling ACT street Clutch owners

Hey Guys,

I've just got an ACT clutch (HDSD) and a new OEM flywheel installed. I also replaced all the parts/bolts that were suggested.

It's the first time I install an aftermarket clutch and have a few questions to make sure nothing is out of norm.

20 miles after the install, I noticed significant clutch chatter in reverse (the whole car shaking). it only happens in low load situation which is always the case in reverse.

I've driven around 100 miles now, and that chatter still occurs in reverse, just at a much lower amplitude. I can replicate that behavior in 1st if I launch the car with barely any revs/load, however the car will not shake, I will only hear chatter.
If I launch around 900/1000 with some load, the clutch is perfectly normal, no noises... shifting through gears is also perfectly normal and I actually like the stiffer pedal feel and lower engagement point.

Thoughts on this? is it normal with ACT clutches at very low loads? or does it need more miles?

I've read some posts about other people having this issue, but thought i'd bring it up in a thread if its own.

Will follow up with a review after the break-in period

thanks!
Marv

Wait about 300-500 miles, it should subside.

Yeah, break it in, try not to ride it too hard, don't stand on it, and after 500 miles, you will really like it. IMO, it's the clutch the car should have come with.

Try not to slip your clutch that much for the first 200 miles until you brake in the disk. Then gradually start pushing the car for the next 500 miles. It should decay with time. It's strange you feel that only in reverse. Try revving up to 1000 rpm.

I only have a 100 miles on it for now. 50% of those are on highway where I don't even shift.

Even around town, I've been running with barely any boost.

About slipping clutch, I obviously only slip it to accelerate. About reverse, if I give some revs (1000rpms) I won't hear chatter. it is only in low load situations. and the problems with reverse, you have to slip the clutch, right? cause you have to back up slowly.

I hope it goes away, I really like how it feels.

That chatter I mentioned is greatly reduced. Almost gone I would say. Clutch feels great! I am at 350 miles now. I haven't launched the car hard yet. but I did start pushing it hard throughout gears ( stage 0) and it holds great. I also like the lower engagement point and stiffer pedal.
Let me know if you have specific questions.

I will update again once I reload Stage2+
