Thinking about changing out the stock exhaust...
...where do I start?
I am not necessarily looking for a big HP increase, but I would like to add a little more growl when compared to the stock exhaust. My car is stock other than a conservative software tune. Thanks, George

Why spend the money on exhaust if you just want sound? I just installed a JB4 and dual intakes last week. I set it to have both canflaps open. With stock exhaust it sounds like a beast and looks stock. Can you say sleeper!!!!!
I got a used JB4 and DCI from burger less than $500 compared to an exhaust job. |

BMW Performance Exhaust FTW, it sounds amazing. Here is a youtube video I made of mine.
As an added bonus, it will reduce wear and tear on your stereo system!

On my Xi, the flaps being open make absolutely no difference. The dci's however, sound great when spooling up. I heard one the other day w/the muffler delete and it sounded GREAT.

I was minutes away from buying a full exhaust system for my 328xi and I brought it to an exhaust shop to talk about installation and he mentioned doing a custom exhaust for cheaper ($300) at first I was skeptical but I ended up going through with it, I did a resonator and muffler delete with new pipes welded in. Sounds like a beast, Ill get a sounds clip if I can. He said to drive it for a few weeks and if i think its too loud he will put in an inline muffler to tone it down a little. Never thought Id consider this option but hey it worked out and sounds great.
