Tyre pressure again!!!
I think Vredestein are taking the p1ss with those "recommended" pressures!...
http://www.vredestein.com/Onlineadvi...ionID=31096613 I saw for the RX8, they recommended something silly like 48psi!!!! |

Can't get out to look at car at the moment as in work but I don't think those numbers are far off what the plaque on the door pillar reccomends for when the car is loaded up?

The reason I started looking at tyre pressures again, is because the car feels a bit "floaty" on the motorway and i'm runnin 36 psi on the fronts and 38 psi rears.

I have always struggled to find a definitive answer with regards to vredesteins psis... I had heard they are so high because of the way in which the sidewall is constructed.

Gets a bit more sensible if you pick the coupe rather than the cabrio: http://www.vredestein.com/Onlineadvi...ionID=31096613

....Checked for the coupe already! Still, I've been looking at what others have said on other forums. It looks like they even agree about suggesting a "higher" pressure.... |

Not here Friend,
On my second set of Sessantas now and have received the same advice from Vred as others. The tyres do seem to have quite a stiff sidewall and are also very happy to run at lower pressures. I'm on the door card pressures of 32 front 35 rear and the ride does become noticably stiffer and harsher as the pressures increase, all the way up to the Vred suggested ones. Way too high in my experience. Bottom line, they dont need these massive pressures to work properly but we do all need re-educating after years of mega pressure junkflats. Cheers Yves |

what I meant, was that Vreds themselves, have admitted that they recommend a "higher" pressure because people tend not to check their pressures regularly and most of the time run on under inflated tyres. |

Exactly what they told me, at least they are consistent with the advice.

Dumb advice.
Overinflation will increase centre tread wear and compromise grip. And this from a manufacturer! Use the load plaque on the vehicle if they are the same size tyres. That is calculated for a weight load and size, rather then a specific brand you will note
