Has anyone installed one on their 335d?

I came across this bypass on ebay. I spoke with one buyer in the UK who installed on it on his 525d because his egr was clogged so bad it couldn't be cleaned. Said he noticed an immediate improvement in performance and mpgs.

I'm currently looking into doing this, mine fine, but it's just something I want to do.
Once installed you need to visits an indipendant with autologic, and have the egr coding turned off
Then you'll not see an emissions light.
The first kit I had from the same seller was for the wrong vehicle, the kit you've bought is the one for the 335d
I posted mine back to him today, so I should get my new kit next week

Thanks for the reply. I would love to do this because I think the egr is nothing but a problem.

Please report back when you get the new bypass installed and let me know how it went and what exactly the tech did to turn off the egr code.

Hey mate, before you buy this bypass check with the seller because I just got a response from him stating he doesn't carry the one for the 335d. Not sure what thats about since the listing states it's for the 3.0d engine.

The one he sent me didn't have a three bolt flange for connection at the end closer to the radiator
So I had to return it
I send a detailed email explaining what it was I needed with a couple of pictures but he didn't respond
I filed a returns request with eBay, which he duely accepted and he should be receiving it back today

I believe his English, on the written side, is weak, so communications are basic. The one in the picture in the link you provided looks like the correct fitment for the 335d

If he doesn't offer a pipe/kit then Allardt have said that can supply one.
Either way I'll keep you posted

Well, I had the wrong bypass pipe supplied, but today I got a refund and it cleared, so I'll order a new one Monday, and then fit it accordingly

Once I've installed it I'll report back

Didn't think the EGR could be coded out.

You can't fit one of these kits without the EMS light coming on for reasons I won't go into here, too techy!!

@cssnms, I should have my egr delete pipe tomorrow all being well, and fingers crossed, I'll try and fit it at the weekend

Spoken to a couple of places, it is possible to de-code the ecu and remove the egr site of the programming

I'll have that done next week....

Will let you know my progress

SOmething occured to me, when I was looking at the engine diagram on realoem, it appears our cars have 2 egr's. I am not sure how one operates vs the other or whether or nothey are ******ted in anyway. Do know anything about the 2nd EGR?

I've had a look on realoem, I cannot find a 2nd egr

I'm certain there aren't two EGR systems on the 35d engine.

After looking again you are correct, it was on the X5d.

This is the installed item :







As you can see, the throttle body, vacuum pipe and exhaust feed pipe are all still connected and mounted securely
Although the last two have no functionality any longer.

Here's a picture of my removed egr valve, this is aprox 100,000 miles old :





It's done 30,000 miles on what ever fuel, I don't know, and 70,000 miles on 98% v-wer diesel and 2% BP ultimate diesel
It's also been running my DTUK CRD-T tuning box at 340bhp and 510lbs ft.
Very mixed driving, town, distance, high speed, town speed.....and I've had zero issues.

I wouldn't class it as coked up, the inlet manifold has nothing in it compared to the egr pictures.....looking down the head ports, the inlet values are like new !!


As for differences, the idle has always been constant, no fluctuation....but it's smoother now, and slightly quieter.
I've dine over 200 miles now, no EML's, a marginally better spool, stronger midrange pull too.
Seems to have crispened everything up alittle too, although, this may just be the placebo effect

All positive results as far as I'm concerned

cheers...... doesnt look too bad for 100k - seen a lot worse egrs on other forums/other makes of car. I assume all the air intake goes through that egr valve ? if so thats quite a restriction. is that new connector just basically a hollow pipe ?


was the egr hard to get off as I remember having a go at getting it off once to clean it but gave up cos I coulnt get to the screws at the bottom.

Jimmy, it was alittle fiddly, I took off their duct at the front ( sits above the rad)
The three torques screws that hold the throttle body on are then easy to access
The 4 allenkey bolts are extremely easy to get at

The flow restriction now removed with the blanking pipe is quite allot.....if I get some spare time I'll work out the % of flow increase

Are you the chap that lives in derby ??
I'm only in Lincoln, I don't mind fitting it for you - I use my mates workshop/tools, so you may have to slip him £10, but I'd be more than happy to fit it for ya foc

It will be interesting to see if this does make a difference - it should.
No egr gasses mean more air less crap so it should burn the charge hotter. That means more power more mpg and dpf is better looked after (exhaust gasses hotter).
Higher NO2 gasses but who cares?

I've done over 300 miles so far, it's all positive, as previously mentioned -

Quicker spool
Sharper throttle response
Larger power band and more use of the torque on light throttle in 'D'
Crisper midrange power
Less asthmatic top end (not that it was before)
Fuel econ is looking like its better (to be confirmed)
No waste exhaust gasses getting back into the engine
NO engine management light

Will keep this updated as the miles increase

I'd be totally surprised if that engine light does not come on on a post 07 model, but it might take a 1000mls or more. It checks if MAF flow goes down when it asks for EGR, and obviously it doesn't with a blocked EGR. It won't illuminate the light at the first time it sees it, it will check for multiple occasions first. But good luck.
If I remember well, putting the system back to original does reset the light.
