How to install ACS rear bumper lip??
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=604525
I'm trying to install this bumper lip but there is no screw holes or anything.. I also tried with 3m molding tape and it would not hold it enough. (Should i use heat gun to make molding tape works better??) any idea or suggestion how to install this lip?? plz help. |

Well, I've used the 3M HD Tape (gray with red peel off) to hold on my rear spoiler, roof spoiler, & front aero spoiler with no problems after years.
You need to 1st clean the area where the tape will be going on both surfaces very well with rubbing alcohol to remove any wax, mold release, dirt, etc. You can then use the optional 3M Adhesive Promoter on both surfaces also for xtra insurance. Any time the tape is used it is best if all surfaces are hot. Pretty hard to heat up all that linear area you have with a heat gun all at one time - every time I did an install I waited till car & new part being attached had set out in the sun, in 80 Deg+ for a while before install. This also made the new part more flexible for the install... And since I see your location is Houston - that shouldn't be a problem ![]()

If you never plan to remove it, use 3M urethane windshield adhesive.
Dries in a few hours and won't come loose like tape. My rear spoiler is done with the adhesive. I tried tape and removed it and went with the adhesive. |
