Fuel Pump Question

Sorry to be annoying, as I'm sure this is, but if I had an April build, would I get the new fuel pump? My dealer says that I did, but I never trust anyone trying to sell me smthg.

335i Coupe

Hey Guys... I have been really busy at work (tax season) and away from the boards for awhile so I am behind on all of these fuel pump and oil cooler problems. I can't really tell if they affect me or not. Hopefully ya'll can help me out. I ordered my 335i Coupe with Steptronic transmission - Sport package in October and it was delivered on December 21. Do I need to call my dealer and ask him about these things? The info provided on these boards is so great! Thanks.

p.s. I am loving this car....like no other car I have ever had

If you've been driving it enough, and haven't had a problem till now, then I really don't think you will have a prob anytime soon.

Don't mean to be picky, but these fuel pump problems we are talking about are related to the 335i.

Ok, this is what I don't understand. If replacing the fuel pump fixes the problem, why can't BMW just sell the cars from the factory with the fuel pumps that work? I mean build the cars with the replacement pumps to begin with. This seems to be a liability issue to me and, I'm sure is already costing BMW a lot of money. Is the simple explanation that they are replacing defective pumps with the same same type fuel pumps? If that's the case won't the replacement pump eventually fail as well? I am at a lost for what BMW is doing here. It also makes me wonder if I should just cancel my order and avoid this stupid fiasco.

It can be possible if the regular fuel pump died, but it's pretty unlikely.

You don't have a 335i..which means you don't have a high pressure fuel pump that is causing so much head ache for these folks.

hey guys I've been away for a while, but are these oil and fuel pump problems about how the car shows a "engine malfunction" sign in the nav screen?

My car has been having worsening long cranks on start for the last two months. In the last 3 days, it started giving me the Engine Malfunction, Reduced power message. I don't know if they're related but my guess is yes.

I have a 335i build date 11 or 12 of 2006. It has 6500 miles on it.

I dropped it off today and got a 325 loaner.

My dealer tells me that they only pay for 24 hours of loaner and then I have to pay the rest. If my fuel pump is bad and I have to wait, I will NOT pay a dime for my rental car, I can tell you that.

Actually the 325i e92/93 sold in Europe and I believe the 328 e92/93 sold in NA have the same high pressure system and the same fuel pump as the 335i. I have a 325 e93 and my pump was replaced two weeks ago.

I just filed a complaint with the nhtsa (http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/complain/). My 335i (purchased may 02, 2007) has been in the shop for 3 weeks now waiting for a fuel pump. It only has 2K mi and I was having the time of my life until I started hearing that 5-6 second start delay in the mornings...then my world turned upside-down. Not sure what build it is, but I definitely feel like killing someone over at BMW every day that passes without my car.:mad::mad: I'm thinking about following the lemon law for a claim, but all I really want is my DAMN car back and some compensation. I just wonder how many people are waiting in line ahead of me for the damn FP. Any suggestions from anyone on the same boat as me??? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, they also screwed me with a V-4 camry for 2 weeks before finally upgrading me to an X-3...can a brotha get an M-3 instead???

My Fuel Pump went last Thursday. I am out of the car for over a week now. My SA called me only to let me know he will know more on Monday about availability. I am in a chrysler 300c that they are paying for, but I want a BMW loaner. I get the typical runaround about not having any available, they are changing fleets, yada yada yada.

Yeah, that unavailability of bmw loaners is B.S. I had to call them back twice in a week after I requested one and they said "oh, we're still waiting for one to come back...wait, I think we might have one for you now." When I get there to swap, 15 bmw's (X3s and 3-series coupes) are all lined up with no customers to claim them. Sad thing is the X3 I ended up getting is a straight POS compared to the 4-banger camry I had. lol I think I'm gonna swap again.
