Ran my 335I e92 Tonight 1/4(1320)
I Just ran my e92 2010 335i tonight at the drag strip (1/4 mile).
Stock 19" style 230 wheels with oe RFT 245 in the front and 255 rear. My only performance mod I have is the jb+ at 100%. Steptronic Transmission 93 Octane (little over 1/4 tank filled) Track was dry with temperature in mid 70 degrees Fahrenheit. All my runs are on the right side of the ET slips. BTW this was the first time I did drag racing lol, I think I did fairly well (I even beat my friends e60 m5, he said he couldnt hook his power down and he has the 6 spd manual.) I feel that I can get into the 12's because the track wasn't really that great and the evo/sti guys were running high 13s to mid 14s. All my runs are in order from 1st to last. That is amazing. I have not been to the track since I got my e92, although I just got it a week ago. I have however use to go to the drag strip in my WRX. The best times I got with that was a 13.6, so that is amazing that a stock 335i can hit low 13's. I'm excited. I am new to the Bimmer scene and was wondering if youcan give me some tips on launching the steptronics. On the WRX, all I had to do was feather the clutch and felt the grip and floor it. Seems simple enough, or at least easier than the steptronics. I was reading how to launch and everyone has there own way of launching the steptronic. I would like to see how you did it, if you would like give me steps, pointers, or anything that can help me.
Thanks. |

did you do the bypass vac line thing being at 100% with the jb? Ive been at 50 for years and actually just bumped it up to 55 about an hour ago (haha adventurous). The best time i've seen with a jb+ was 12.7 but the guy had drag radials on.

He's not stock--just very close to it. He's running a JB+, which is a very mild tune.
OP: Practice your reaction times--you could shave a tenth off right there.

Looks good - first run is weird though, ET looks around right at 13.3, but the MPH is way to low for a 13 second run at 87 mph and the guy you ran in the 12 second Camaro only did a trap of 94 mph - looks like something was wrong with the equip measuring speed. The rest all look right in line for your mods, last one is nice a 106mph trap at 13.2.

and the jb4 is worlds better just a more invasive tune changing a whole lot more in the engine (timing, fuel mix etc) than just tricking the turbos into spooling to higher boost as the jb+ does. |

Reaction time has absolutely ZERO to do with his times. He could have a 4 minute reaction time and still run a 13.1

Those are some pretty good 60ft times. I just went today and my best 60ft was 2.16s - I felt like I was fighting for traction on all of them and I'm completely stock, I can't even imagine a JB+ at 100%. Were you running with DSC totally off, or just DTC on?

Yeah the 1st run their equipment was messed up. I raced in all my passes with dtc on (the option with slight traction control; I was also brake boosting launching around 1.5k-2.5k rpms. Do my runs seem right for my car's setup?

And I'm not sure if those seem good for your car setup - I'm still stock and at high altitude. My best run today was a 14.1 @ 99.5 at a DA of 7,400 ft. Corrected that is ~ a 13.5s @ 103 which is about what I'd expect for a stock 2010 steptronic at sea level. 13.1s seems pretty good to me for just a JB+, but I'm not an expert like some of the other folks on here. -Rich |

OP- talk to Terry about upgrading to a JB4. I'm not trying to assume that youre unsatisfied with your JB+...
Its an easy install and you'll understand exactly why people recommend that you do this once you do it and go WOT for the first time. Stage 3 tune FTW... |

Reason being I got the JB+ was I got it for cheap, I'll being upgrading to the jb4 in the near future. I'm already tired of the power the jb+ gives me lol. The M5 actually ran a 12.66 on a mustang dyno yesterday morning lol, if he had better tires on the track he could for sure run into the 12s.

I am thinking about getting the JB4. I heard it was very nice upgrade. I still have to practice launching with the steptronic. Traction on/off, holding the brake while halfway gassing it, etc. Thanks guys. I didn't see that the op had JB+.
