UStarcom, aka HTC aka Audiovox... whatever, makes PDA phones that have all the bells and whistles... but lack the smooth ease-of-use on any of its functionalities. Not enough firmware tie-ins to Windows Mobile OS. My PPC-6700 is a great phone... but it's a love/hate relationship. It drives me freaking nuts sometimes --- I'll spare the list, but the big on relevent to the Bimmer is that the Bluetooth doesn't work in our cars!!!! Keeps losing the pairing and you have to soft-reset. don't know if its a BMW thing or the handset.

ALL re: PPC6700
Love / Hate is right !!! But it does work and will pair every time if you leave the PDA ON with backlight OFF (hold the power button till the backlight goes off - don't just tap it). Battery life is reduced but ...... I also loaded Jetware Mobile ($14.95 from Jetware.com) it takes control of the Bluetooth functions and makes the phone work a bit better. Be interested in knowing the issues you have with the 6700. I am on my 4th phone from Verizon !!! All have same issues of randon operation; battery dead indicator on soft reset; poor battery life; etc. etc. etc. ONly rerason I keep it is Treo is worse from what I hear and it has wifi which I use all the time.

I had the Sprint 6700 and I know what you mean about "love/hate" relationship. Sometimes my phone would link up with the phonebook, sometimes it didn't. I had to go through these stupid steps so the phone would link up. Anyway, now I have the Sprint Moto Q and the phone works like clockwork. Phone book shows up on Idrive, Voice Command works perfectly with it, the phone is so much better than the 6700. Get the Moto Q and try that.
I had some difficulty with my 6700 and because it was insured I was able to get the Moto Q. Sprint will work with you if you can find something about your phone that doesn't work. If you're persistant enough, they'll upgrade your phone.

Verizon as well will work with you especially if still under 1 year warranty. I am only continuing with the 6700 because of the wifi capability without using the memory card slot. Still a valuable feature for me when away from home.
