Brake Jerking stopped
So I've been experiencing the same jerking that few others have posted about when coming to a stop. It also lounges forward when you try to inch up when parking the car which makes it hard and is really annoying. (for example when parking and you try to get inch up close to a wall and your brakes full down then you release it to go few inches, and the car wants to jump a foot, got used to is so I am very careful doing it).
Well, I just replaced my 16 non sport wheels with some 19s and the jerking went away. My theory is due to these new wheels are heavier. I've read that the stock pads are really sticky, which is what causes the jerk. My guess is with the heavier new wheels, the pads cant really stick and hold them when coming to a stop so it stops depending on the pressure I apply, which gives me full control. I love it so much better now. Also when inching forward same thing, when I release the brake, the car would roll slowly forward and can overcome the stickiness and no lounging/jumping forward. I will keep an eye on this for next few weeks and report back. So for those that dont want to upgrade their wheels, try a different set of pads, I've heard akebono is good and see if that helps. I was on the verge of selling the car due to the sticky brake and jerking feel just because it got really annoying to drive but now I am all smiles. |
