Radio goes funny if I turn on rear screen heater

Happen to anyone else?

I've got full warranty for another 16 months just can't be naffed taking it to dealer at the moment. Won't be much of an issue now till winter.

But is there a quick fix or is this a known issue etc?

Car is an LCI 10 plate E92.. Standard FM radio in a professional head unit. no speaker upgrades etc. Non combox.

I've had this before on other cars as the FM aerial is intergrated into the rear window it usually means the aerial amp in the rear pillar has died or is on way out.

I had similar issue on e46 and a new aerail amp fixed it, strange for it to fail on such new car though

New rear screen required.

I had mine replaced under warranty.

The aerial damaged within the glass.

I had this problem with our E91 when we bought it. The car was only just over a year old so under warrany and the rear screen was replaced without arguement, solving the problem. I guess it either didn't bother the 1st owner or he didn't listen to the radio much. Because the screen carries both ariel and heated screen elements, which cross one another, you can get a short. There is no way to fix it apart from a new rear screen - so it's a case of a warranty claim if you have one, dig deep, or live with it.

line 2 of my post says I have a full warranty as the car is only 1 year old

I'll get it sorted at some point before it runs out I guess. Not a major issue for me right now ..

Mega I woudl get it done sooner or later I had a problem similar on a VAGT did not get it done till further into ownership and it turned out to be damaged rear window. Had to fight hard to get it replaced as dealer claiming usage damage. As some lines where damaged claimed it could ahve been due to improper boot loading etc. In end fixed it myself but if I had done it as soon as I had got the car would have probably sorted it and new window
