Bypass passcode lock on iOS 5.0?

So I did a lot of google searching... seems people either:

!) delete keychain-2.db via ssh and it "fixes" the issue.
But:
I delete keychain-2.db but it keeps "returning" so it seems to not be working for me..

or
2) are able to access Phone.app by doing a "trick" where they use the notification center.
BUT: This is meaningless to me as I want access to the phone itself...

3) Restore the phone.
I thought about restoring.. I'd lose my JB but so what... I'm just afraid that I won't be able to restore from back up... mainly because I'm still on 5.0 and not 5.1....
IIRC, you cannot restore an updated iPhone to a backup from an older software. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that means if I restore, I have to start fresh.

Losing my JB isn't my main concern, losing everything and having to start fresh is my main concern

I use the same type of password for this phone, and have tired almost every combination (since it keeps disabling I have to keep waiting...)

Any ideas?

Much appreciated

I know there must be some mac savy people.

macforums hasn't brought up any answers for me..

You can restore to older firmware if your blobs/shhs/.. are saved can you not? Shift restore enables you to choose the firmware file if i remember correct.

edit: Never had any problems with restoring back-ups, though not entirely sure what you mean?

IIRC, you are unable to use that method with the 4S (the 4 is doable)

Apple won't sign for any firmware that's not 5.1, so I cannot select a 5.0 (jailbroken or not) ipsw to restore too.

If my 4S was on 5.1, JB or not, I could do a restore and not care. but IIRC, I cannot restore to a 5.0 backup when the newest firmware for the 4S is a 5.1.

I ended up guessing my password finally.

but if this question can be answered, I'm sure it can help..

One interesting thing I found out though:
when you guess wrong, it says wait 1 min, 5 mins, 60 mins...
but just connect it to the computer/iTunes you've used in the past, select "sync" and then you can re-enter your password without guessing
Figuring this out allowed me to guess the other options quicker and get my phone unlocked.

I'm just wondering how you forgot your own password.

Yeah this is a thing the kids do to mess with their firends, keep putting in the wrong pass word and eventually it locks you out of the phone until you hook it to your home computer.
