JB4 on a 2012 335is DCT

I have been thinking about adding a JB4 to my 2012 335is, I'm not planning on adding any more upgrades. Is it safe? Do i have to worry when i take it to the dealer for service? What kind of gain will i expect to get? Does it effect the power band? Can the DCT handle the upgrade with no issues? I would really appreciate all your comments

the 335is is not much diffrent then any other normal n54 engine and yes running jb4 on the stock engine wont harm anything else it'll be just less beneficial then having upgrades

I think map 2 is the reccomended map on a stock 335is, so you should be making a good amount of power. It's safe, just clear codes and remove for dealer.

There is a map for 335is and always clear codes and remove!
You could leave it on for oil change but i wouldnt risk it, all they have to do is press volume and channel to easily see if you have a jb4. If you take it out youll be fine.

If you install the USB you can disable the steering buttons prior to your appointment using the jb4 app. FutureuseD=1

so a 335is 6MT with JB4 should basically be the same as a 335i 6MT with JB4?

I know DCT means faster shift = faster track slips.

I think the IS has better than stock flow and heat dissipation qualities that might make it a little faster than a jb4 without other upgrades.

I've got it on mine and I love it! Once you learn how to install it you'll quickly learn that it won't take you more than 20 minutes to remove when bringing it into the dealer.

I had just took mine into the shop and no issues. As long as you are not getting something big done no need to take off the lid of the ecu to see it.

Just thinking out loud but, why don't we start a 335is tuned thread, Vishnu, Cobb, JB etc? That way, anyone looking to mod their is can reference that thread.

Not sure about that

No mods, 94 octane, Dynojet: 1 pull stock 314whp & 3 pulls JB4 old Map 2 365whp. New 335is Map 6 not yet dyno tested on my car but is measurably quicker with an average of 2.5PSI increase over the old general Map 2 running 15psi from 2500 to 5000rpm.

Now has more boost from off idle to 5500rpm, = boost at 6000rpm, 1/2psi less boost at 6500rpm & 1psi less at 7000rpm then the 335i map.

I shift at 6250 with shift lights so my average boost increase in my normal rev range over the old map 2 is about 2psi. Have not dynoed the new maps & have no idea what 2PSI is worth in whp but the butt dyno & a speed to distance place I measure at show a quicker car.

One member here with posted before after time slips has shown +.3 second in the 1/4 mile & a few mph down to 12.5/115mps with just the map change. New Map 6 requires 93 octane gas which is standard high test in NC.

The OP specifically asked about the JB4. I know the other piggy back fanboi club which has a heavy presence here might have a problem with that but if an alternative is being considered Cobb would be the way to go.
