It really depends how much you want to spend. However, many will advise you to change out all 4 tires at the same time if you're switching brands/type (like to non-run-flat), and I agree. But if you can't afford rear tires right now, it is what it is.

I'll be buying in a few months, and I have my eyes set on THESE. Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Note that the link is for a front and rear set.

Also, I'm pretty sure TPM will be unaffected since it just measures rotations. You'll have to reset the system when you install the tires, but that should be it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, depends how much you wanna spend. Hankook V12s and Contis DW are ok for over all performance, price, and thread wear. Hankook RS3s are very good performance tires.

Also Hankook has rebate deal now for V12s. buy 4 get $80 back. < thats what I bought, but would really like to test drive Contis DWs some day, they were back-ordered at the time of my purchase

for tire pressure i would run 38 cold

1. Not going to mess with your tpms. I just installed 4 new Michelins on 4 new rims, with 4 new tpm sensors last Friday. Didn't even trigger the warning, even though the pressure is about 5 psi higher than what I had been running on the runflats. You have to, of course, either transfer the tpm sensors or buy new ones. And if the warning does go off, just go through the reset procedure.

2. It seems many people are running 3 to 5psi higher. The ride/handling is so much of an improvement over the runflats, I don't even notice the harder tire.

3. Michelin Pilot FTW. I don't think keeping the two runflats in the back is a great idea, but you'll probably be OK if you're not driving all crazy. Take it easy until you get all four corners with the same tires.

Don't forget to get a spare or an inflation and repair kit or upgrade your AAA to the 100 mile or over towing.

If money is not an issue go for the Michelin PSS.
I'm very happy with mine, excellent handling.
No problems with TPMS, just reset it after you've mounted your new tires.

I went with DW and they are fine. EVERYTHING is way better without run flats. Wait until you can afford all 4.

Conti Extreme Contact DWs here...2nd set of non-runflats, no problems, but don't mix runflat and non-runflat. Contis have slightly softer sidewalls, thus softer ride, are not as expensive (or noisy) as Michelins, and have treadwear rating of 340 as opposed to the 240-280 of most other similar tires. New technology with different compounds in different areas of the tread. Well worth it for normal driving -if you autocross, you may want to go with Michelin or some of the others mentioned above.

Tread wear compared on different brands doesn't mean much.....280 can be the same as 340

First of all it's tread, not thread...and the UTQG rating doesn't have different meanings for different brands. UTQG is an industry standard and is what is used to compare treadwear across all brands. 280 is definitely not the same as 340.

thanks, i fixed my mistake

now you can educate yourself...thats from Tirerack:

"The problem with UTQG Treadwear Grades is that they are open to some interpretation on the part of the tire manufacturer because they are assigned after the tire has only experienced a little treadwear as it runs the 7,200 miles. This means that the tire manufacturers need to extrapolate their raw wear data when they are assigning Treadwear Grades, and that their grades can to some extent reflect how conservative or optimistic their marketing department is. Typically, comparing the Treadwear Grades of tire lines within a single brand is somewhat helpful, while attempting to compare the grades between different brands is not as helpful."

so a Honkook tire with 280 can actually have same or better wear then Conti with 340. and i also never read that from tirerack ^, mostly coming from many reviews where lower rated tires lasted much longer then higher rated on the same cars with the same person driving.

Wrong again - it says "it's not as helpful", so you cannot draw your 280 versus 340 comparison from that statement. If that were true, you could say 240 or 180 is the same as 340, which is simply not factual. In my experience, a 240 Yokohama has lower treadwear than a 280 Goodyear - the Yokos barely made it to 10K miles on the rear of my 2003 330iZHP, while the Goodyears lasted 16K miles.

I stated a FACT and I have proven it....you were obviously wrong the 1st time and now just making assumptions which are wrong

EDUCATE yourself more here (i can also teach you how to use google by the way there is more on this subject there):

http://www.tire-information-world.co...treadwear.html

If one brand tire is 280 and another brand is 500 then yes 500 tire will last longer, but when numbers are so close to each other 280 and 340 for example, this mean absolutely nothing.

Winter tires are great in snow. Summer tires are great on dry. DWS is not a summer or winter tire.
