Tune VS Catless Downpipes
Everyone has been saying that 3" catless downpipes are such a noticeable difference (not just in power but mostly response time) I just added my JB4 a few weeks ago and it was pure joy from the moment i first ran in, Can anyone tell me if the change with getting catless DPs's is gonna be as dramatic? Again not specifically power, More specifically the driving experience overall.

Get dps after meth. Drone? Uh no. It will significantly accentuate the turbo spool sound.

Your 5 posts really shows here.
OP there it will for sure be noticeable when putting catless DPs in, but I don't think the increase will be as dramatic as installing the JB4.

The DPs are a great power mod and definitely make the car more responsive. It allows you to fully take advantage of the higher maps but it won't be like comparing to stock versus JB4. The only other mod that gives you a power boost like the JB4 does is methanol injection. Mike |

Part of the reason i picked this car over the g37s 6 speed is cuz i hated how mods for an NA car felt like they made almost no difference. Sounds like the DP's wont be as dramatic as the JB4, but will def change the car some. I am excited. Should be in tomorrow.

They're definitely not going to drone like crazy
You'll definitely notice a difference getting rid of the front cats and going with a larger downpipe. There are noticeable power differences as well as sound differences. I'm personally prefer an upgraded FMIC or DP's over meth injection due to the the fact that it's a supplementary mod vs something permanent that won't run out of juice when you need it. |

No drone on a stock exhaust. The only power adder you can do that is going to match the performance gain similar to a tune is methanol or nitrous.
After that downpipes and intercooler. Since power wasn't your concern most people like the spool up noises downpipes offer, increased response and quick spool it offers. |

Tune + FMIC + Downpipes makes for a very safe and powerful daily driver with minimal upkeep. You should notice better boost response and a nice soundtrack with catless downpipes.

I have 3" VRSF catless DPs and stock exhaust...
I wouldnt call it drone, but you will notice a sound difference. At times especially in the 5000+ rpm range it can get raspy with this setup. On highway crusing speeds depending on your rpms you'll notice a bit louder humming sound. I maybe overly sensitive but any louder and I would not like it. Thats why im staying with the stock exhaust. |
