Confused about my Corona Lighting...
I purchased a 2008 328XI Sedan with Xenon Headlights as an option.
After reading a bit online, it was my understanding that I could have my lights programmed so that I can have only the "Angel Eyes" lid up as parking lights without having the other lights come on. I turn my parking lights on and I get more than just the corona lights turned on. In my case, the xenons stay off but the inner, non-xenon lights/adaptive lights come on. I was told at my nearest dealership that my year and model could not be programmed. Can someone tell me if this is true or not? If it is true is there a way around this to just have the corona lights come on without he inner light? I apologize, I'm new to this forum, and I have tried to find this answer by search within this section, but I'm still a bit confused as I have not found anyone commenting this 2008 328xi with having the optional xenon package for this year and model. Any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated. I was advised to repost it in this section as well to see if someone could give input on this. Mike |

I'm trying to do the same thing. You can turn the inner light off using the in-dash menu when stopped (read the manual), and then the only way to have the angel-eyes come on is to take the headlight switch to the parking light position. Then the angel eyes and corner amber lights come on.
I've heard that it's possible to code them so the angel eyes are always on as DRLs, but haven't found any exact answer yet. |

Here is a picture of what I want turned off. This is the inner-driving light I'm referring to. And I again, apologize, I'm new to this, I've seen other models doing this, I'm just trying to find out if this is possible on the 328xi with the optional xenon lamps.
Thanks. Mike |

Unless my 2008 335i is different, it's an option. The manual tells you how to change it, but here it is:
With the car on and stopped (doesn't matter if the engine is running or not), press down or up on the turn-signal-stalk scroll wheel. Then keep pressing until this is selected: Select by pushing the button on the end of the turn-stalk. Then scroll to this selection: It should be "on." Select it, and then select "off." Now the parking lights will turn on amber corner lights and angel eyes, not the center non-xenon beams. |

Yes, as Grant implied, you can do it with coding.
That light that you want turned off is actually the high-beam halogen. For cars with factory xenons that high-beam is redundant with the bixenon functionality. Basically its only function is DRL. If you are set up to code, the DRL line is in the FRM module, VERHALTEN something something, you just change it from halogen to angel eyes. It's all in the spreadsheet. |

Thanks for your help.

JWalker, thank you, you nailed it and those screen shots helped a lot. Thank you again everyone. Now I just need to switch my angel eyes to match the color of my xenon. That's something I will do down the road. Mike |
