Thumbs up Vishnu/FFTEC Single Turbo 335i on Inside Line!

Hey Everyone,
I've been hoping someone would post this all day. After waiting and waiting, i can constrain myself no longer.

The Vishnu Single-Turbo 335i is featured on the front page of Inside Line right now!! Seems like it managed to put down some pretty awesome numbers despite lackluster testing conditions

0-60 - 4.1 (3.8 with rollout)
1/4 Mile - 11.5 @128.9

http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...35i-coupe.html

Enjoy! It looks like there's going to be a separate dyno test coming in the next couple of weeks.

I believe the road surface was not ideal. The driver was having a hard time hooking up. The video is here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...bo+inside+line

Upgraded twins still hold the record at 11.10s

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqvZJk-68g4

With good track prep both upgraded twins and big single should be able to see high 10s though.

Vishnu car ran 3mph more in the traps on the review and 5mph more than that in his private testing (8mph total). Making that much power and nailing the 60fts required mandates some beefy drivetrain upgrades that isn't in the scope of testing atm.

+1. Elsewhere on that blog are posts about how hard it is to get the new supercharged ZL1 Camaro barely into the 10's, even with 700+ HP. I don't even want to think how much Lingenfelter would charge for all those mods.

Isn't anyone excited to see what the xi can do with the single turbo upgrade. If any 335 can cut 10's easily it should be the xi because of the ample traction.

Just have to wait and see what parts might go kaboom on it though. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

I'm betting if the 6AT holds up that it will hit 10s with those trap speeds. No need for AWD.

It's about traction, 1st and 2nd are severely limited with rwd. With awd and full use in 2nd will be a game changer, at least in my eyes.

What do high trap speeds say with average 1/4 times, says not much traction in lower gears.

I'm not sure how much I'd trust the transfer case to last more than one launch....

Hi guys,
As you saw in the video from Inside Line testing we posted a couple weeks ago, launching the car with stock suspension has proven to be a challenge. The best it did was a 60' time of 2.0-2.2s at Inside Line testing. But it was on bare pavement (not VHT prepped like a drag strip surface) so the 1.6-1.7s 60' required to run 10s wasn't going to happen. We have done quite a bit of suspension work in the last month with the hopes that it will hook properly. And by the looks of it, it should the next time it is out. Last week at sac, it ran 11.3s with a 2.0s 60' time. Obviously, it's got the power to run 10.8-10.9 with a good launch. Maybe better on a day that wasnt 80+ deg. We will see soon enough

Also, the vbox run for the published run was 130mph. The best of the day was a bit over 133mph but the ET was slower since it spun through 2nd. Fwiw, they adjust the trap speed post testing to account for the practice to average mph over the last 66'. This drops nominal trap speeds by 2-3mph. On a cooler day, I'm not sure the car would be able to run a much higher trap since that speed approaches the speed limit in 4th gear and shifting into 5th isn't desirable yet. So all it boils down to is getting a decent launch (1.7s).

You really need a numerically lower rear axle ratio. The stock gearing is for stock horsepower. That's your 10s right there.

I think they swapped in a 3.46 rear. I'd assume the tires in the back are probably ~26" tall. With a 7200 rpm limit, 4th gear should go to about 135mph, which is where you would want to be with this setup when crossing the traps.

I personally think sticking with the 3.08 will be better, as it gives room to improve the trap while still in 4th gear on the MT.

Some are probably from the BB community, so that's expected. The rest just don't realize the amount of time and work it took to build this. Most are probably youngin's thinking you can just slap on a single turbo and call it a day.

I agree. I bet most of these people are not familiar with the challenges the N54 poses. For instance the guy who says its not surprising to get 700whp from a turbo 6, people have been doing it for decades. Maybe on port, but never on DI.

They weren't racing a on a track surface that was prepped and I think they were at high elevation.
