335d service loaner purchase... need advice!
I need some advice....
went to the dealer today to put a deposit down on new 328i (f30). I drove the car, and it was nice. coming from s4 though, the engine was a bit anemic. I liked the car but didn't love it. I then saw a 2011 335d sitting in the show room. the car was a service loaner. here are the details: 16,000 miles space gray metallic cold weather premium package comfort key access navigation satellite radio harmon kardon ipod adapter MSRP 53,400. car has been used as a service loaner for close to 2 years and appeared to be in excellent condition. the test drive was fantastic. think this would make a perfect daily driver. I think I can get the 335d for about 38,000. it would have 2 years of warranty left. good price for the car? can do better? any reservations about buying a service loaner? would appreciate some advice! |

I bought a service loaner as well but mine was in service 6 months for <5,000 miles.
My car is 2011 Black, tan interior. Premium, Comfort Key, Sat Radio, iPod, Xenons but not the cold weather nor navigation (so $3k less sticker) Mine also had a very nice tint applied. Price for mine was $41.6k. Yours is better equipped but a lot more miles and a LOT more use/time off the warranty. I don't think I'd pay $38k for that. |

I think this is a no brain-er if you can get them to include either an extended warranty or lower the price. I'd push for the extended service/warranty if I were you, also make sure to check if there's been any sort of body repair, might be able to talk them down with that kind of info. 335d > 328i F30 any day of the week!

It's not that bad.. The only downside is that it was a loaner,
If you can get it at $38~ with extended warranty why not? The engine is a beast. Enough torque to satisfy anybody |

I will sell you mine for $37500.
![]() If you like it do it. Ask the dealer to pull the service history to see if it was in for any unsual or repeat repairs eg dpf issues, belt squeal, clogged metering valve etc. If you can negotiate an extended warranty as part of the deal all the better. |

I purchased almost the exact same car but without comfort access. A service loaner as well but only had 8K miles and was in service 6 months. It cost me $40,640 plus tax, etc, etc. Now have 16K miles and not a single issue. And yes this car is a excellent daily driver, although cannot experience it too often as I cannot get it away from my wife (it was suppose to be MY car).

My buddy just traded his '11 335d aw/black with 6k miles with sport package and the other same equipment as above for $37k on a M3 vert. I think you need to be around $35k certified.

Just offered 37 for the car. Didn't ask for extended warranty. Dealer said 37.9 is the best they can do. I'm getting the sense that would be too much for the car based on feedback from this forum. The tires are worn as well and would need to be replaced this year. Tough choices. I really like the car.

Have you tried the 335d with Sport package? I'd recommend getting Sport or M-Sport because of the seats.
You should be able to find other used ones at a better price, especially if you're willing to travel some distance and drive it home. You can probably get someone on here that is local to the car to take a look at if for you. |

There's one on cars.com in Atlanta, a little shipping maybe???, for $36500 at a BMW store with the sport package with a few more miles. I would check into that one.

Let's see, the car is a 2011 with 16k miles on it, the price seems fair and if the service records are clean and the car looks nice, there is nothing to really worry about. Besides you should have the rest of the factory warranty, if anything mayor happens. Just like you I was about to do the same, pick up an F30, and when I saw the d I knew it was really what I wanted. I picked up a 2009 with just about every option with 11k miles for 34,700.00 with an additional 2yrs or 36k miles of warranty. Car is like new and have not have any issues what so ever. I really looked around for a quality 335d and I believe your car is well priced, specially with the equip list you mentioned.
Good luck! |

Like I said, you probably could work a little bit on the price on the on in Atlanta which I understand is less than 500 miles away from you and it has the sport package. It might even be certified. If you are going to spend $35k + on a car, you should feel warm and fuzzy about it as opposed to what it sounds like you are feeling right now.

I wonder if the dealership in Indy could buy the car from the dealer in Atlanta in some sort of trade then sell it to me? |

Mine was also a service loaner, but it only had about 800 miles when I picked it up. You should make sure that the car was never titled. Usually, service loaners are driven on dealer plates and aren't registered. But you never know - if they did register it, then you're technically buying a used car even if it was just a "loaner".
