Homelink Mirror Retrofit Harness

Hey Guys,

My car is a 2011 E90 328i with a 06/2010 production date.

I'm looking into retrofitting the rear view mirror with one that has homelink garage door opener, auto dimmer, and potentially compass. My current mirror has none of that.

After searching the forums, it seems that I need to use a retrofit harness: 61-12-0-434-330 but am not sure if this one will fit my car and if there are more than one flavor of these.

I checked on realoem and it looks like it will fit but it doesn't specify any years. Does it matter?

http://realoem.com/bmw/partxref.do?p...ur=&series=E90

Besides harness, do I need to worry about anything else?

If anyone could help me out that would be great.

Thanks!

Correct, that is the only part you will need besides your new mirror. I just did the same mod this weekend. You should be able to fit any mirror with auto-dim, compass, and home link, including the one from the newer LCI cars without the clown nose.

Read the whole DIY for additional tips for wiring install.

Install takes 30 mins.

Great!
Thanks for the quick reply.

It will be my first mod on this car

Do you have the rain sensor? If not you may been a new end cap as well.

Would that possibly be the same retrofit harness need in a 128i coupe?

I'd like to do this as well. Where are you sourcing the parts and how much?

The rain sensor doesn't matter as it is not affiliated with the rear view mirror. It's near one another but are not affiliated...

The 128/135 use the same mirrors as the e9x cars so the retrofit harness would be the same. The part number is 61120434330 for anyone looking...

The retrofit harness is only for those that do not currently have auto-dimming mirrors (eg, you have to rotate the clown nose to "dim"). It's a plug and play upgrade to the homelink / homelink+compass mirrors if you already have auto-dimming.

I have some mirrors for sale if anyone is interested. PM me for more info.

Just do a search on ebay for "bmw homelink mirror". The flat nose homelink mirrors sell anywhere from $200 to $300 depending on if it comes with a compass or not and if you get lucky or not.

Yeah Ebay is a pretty good resource, though there are some forum members selling them as well.

I just order a mirror and a cable. Hopefully everything works out.

Will keep you guys posted.

Yup I will be ordering one with homelink as soon as I get a chance and find a good deal. Thanks for the links/thread, this is exactly what I was looking for.

So I ended up successfully installing the homelink mirror.
It works like a charm!
The mirror I ordered off ebay for $220 looks brand new and there is not a single scratch on it. It has the newer short clown nose and it looks really great. I couldn't be happier.

For anyone on the fence on this I highly recommend doing it. It is one of the best mods for the money.

As far as I know you have to code it if you don't want the mirror to dim while in reverse gear. But that's really it.

At this point it doesn't matter to me.

eBay is a good resource for the mirror, but also try www.car-part.com
I ordered mine from there and paid $165 shipped. It has home link, compass and auto dim.

Can anyone tell me if this mod will work with a 2012 BMW 328i F30? I purchased the car from my brother in law recently and can't believe it doesn't have the autodim mirror and homelink when it has basically everything else. I would really love to do this. Would the same retrofit wire be necessary as well? Thanks for all your help.

Ebay is a bad source for the mirrors...when I did the mod a couple months ago the cheapest one I could find was 150 dollars. I bought the mirror from a salvage yard via car-part.com for 60 shipped.

Hi,
I have a E91 2011 with interior mirror with auto dim, light and rain sensor; I would add homelink option, there is a cheaper way to add this? The only way is to change the entire mirror?
