Xenon Conversion

Hi Guys

Probably should of changed the title because its been done to the death!

But got a slightly different question, aswell as the obvious.

The Pre LCi Xenon lights on a E90/91 how many different types are there?

2 or 3?

Xenon
Bi Xenon
Adaptive

Or are Xenon + Bi Xenon the same (i know what Bi Xenon is, but are ALL BMW E90 xenon units Bi Xenon?)

Also, what else is needed to convert from halogen? Complete lights, blubs, ballasts etc

Ive got headlight washers already so just need to get auto leveling retrofitted also, am i missing anything else?

Cheers

And as is the norm nowadays... A thank you for reading

I've previously had a regular xenon conversion but often wondered what exactly is a "bi" xenon, does that mean main & dip are xenon? & is it one bulb or two?

Cheers

Garage List
Bixenon is 1 bulb, the high/low beam is selected by a reflector inside the headlight unit.

the adaptive ones are a pita because you need to upgrade some thingymabob to make them work (they turn when you turn your wheel)
I bought some lights cheap that didn't have the standard ballast or bulbs so it has an aftermarket hid kit but instead of the rubbish
H7 bulbs you get i've some d2s bulbs witch is basically the same as the d1s bulbs you should have.
It is basically plug and play but to get the bi xenon to work you need to bridge a few wires in the connector block, I haven't done this yet but
I will let you know how this goes when I do it.
I have retro fitted OEM Xenons (Pre LCI) on mine, and they're not Bi Xenon....

They are bi-xenon you just have to wire it up so it works.
Their is a DIY retro fit guide on here.

There is a shutter the inner light is not a main beam its a corner light that will only work if you have the correct module.
Have you seen how dim the inner light is?

No I didn't fit them; they were already on the car when I bought it. I thought the cornering lights were for the LCI models?

The inner lights come on when your turning if they where on the car when it was built but if they where retrofitted they don't they come on as main beam because that's where it is on the halogen lights.
But if you connect the wiring up for the shutter the dipped beam moves and you get your bi xenon.
Here is the explanation.
