New Tyres - Northern Ireland Suppliers

Guys
I'm hunting for new summer tyres for my 19" rims.

So far I've got pricing for Hankook S1 Evo and v12 Evo tyres in the right sizes. Both around the £700 mark balanced and fitted.

I know the Falkens are good as well but the guys I've spoken to can't (won't) get them in. I'm running Hankook Icebears at the moment and I'm pleased with them in terms of wear and performance - I'm not a pushy driver!...

Can anyone recommend tyre fitters around the Belfast - North Down area that I should be looking at?

The FK452's are a pretty good tyre for the price and it's a shame your shop won't get them in but by far the best tyres I've used are Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas. Excellent grip in wet and dry conditions and very predictable on the limit. I really wish I'd shelled out the extra £70 to have them on my new wheels but everyone was raving about the falkens so had to give them a go.

If buying Vredesteins in NI, the distibutor is Modern Tyre Services, they tend to be cheaper than buying through another tyre outlet.

Vreds are available in 265/30x19 for the rear. I take it this is ok since the originals are 255/30x19 and it won't have any major effect on the speedo?

£730 from Modern Tyre Service, not too bad.

Yes 265/30 on the rear is ok, most people upsize the front by one step also if up sizing the rears, go to 235/35 on front.

I assume these are going on standard wheels going by the tyre sizes you've mentioned.

Upping by one size is no problem and won't have a noticeable impact on speedo readings. My rears are 9.5" on the back and 265's have a slight stretch (FK452's) so to be fair the 265's on 9" rears should sit perfect.

Thanks guys, have managed to source correct sized Vreds local to me for £700 so happy enough.

Vreds seem to get a slightly better review than the Hankook or Toyo.

Couldn't get Falkens but was also offered Khumo Ecsta e39 for £530 the set.

Vredstien Sessanta Ultrac it is then.

Can anyone confirm what the rim protection is like on the Vredstien?

Called in and had a look at the tyres this morning so I'm happy with them, good rim protection AFAICS. Have gone with 225/35 on front and 265/30 on the rear.

Thx for the input
