How do you update the ECU/Module software??
I am trying to get some help on how to update the various ECU/modules to the latest software for my 2006 E90. The last time my car was updated, according to INPA, was in 2007. It would be nice to get the latest software so that any fixes/changes/features will be available for my car. I am guessing that WinKFP plays a roll as well as Tools32. I am hoping someone can help me with the process. Thanks!!

Come on guys, i updated ecu usually by dcan cable, it takes abou 10-15 minutes. Whole car is about 3-4 hours, MOST,OOPS etc is required only for few modules and ecu is not one of them.
Kombi, frm, ecu, pdc, msd80 any many more can be done by regular cable! Power supply is nice option but not mandatory |

Of course, mine is a 2006 with no DCAN so I don't know what the story is for later non-k+can cars. |

Yea I updated my dme via k+dcan cable.
It updated in in 5 minutes, but a full dme reflash can take up to an hr I believe via this cable. For navi, it can take a few hrs (up to 6 hrs) and I would definately recommend a power supply for long programming ones. |

So it sounds like I can in fact update my car with my K+d-can cable. Now the question is HOW? I can not find clear, concise information for the procedure for doing this. I have all the software (INPA, Ediabas, Tool32, NCS, WinKFP etc..). I just want good information so I don't brick my car. Thanks.

You'll need winkfp and the (huge) data directory from the full sp-daten for your vehicle (E89x). The "lite" version won't do (full version of v45_SP-daten-E89.zip is almost 5 GiB). You'll need to import this using the "import/export" menu. There's a document floating around somewhere that tells how to do this. Google finds it here:
http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...7#post20713857 After WinKFP is up and running with appropriate daten installed, you can find a rough procedure on how to use it here: http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...5#post20877225 |

Please note the winkfp is a very powerful software and you should never guess when using that software. It has the potential of killy modules if something doesn't work out the way it should have.

WInkfp is very simple. It does what you ask it to do. You ask it to flash new navigation maps into DME module? Sure buddy, no problem!
That's why you gotta be careful with it. |

Try to find v46.1 there were some updates for your model since v45?
Btw full daten should be over 10gb not 5gb unless its compressed but after repack 10gb is minimal for full daten if you have less than this something is wrong with these fies |
