car acting weird

So I had an odd issue with my car today. For the past week now it has been acting strange it seems as if the acceleration has been very choppy around 80mph, this only happens when in 6th gear and WOT. The car accelerates just fine hear the turbos spool but it feels really choppy as if it is slipping. Now the clutch feels fine the rpms never jump when this happens and i have not a clue as to what it is. Ive owned 3 manual cars and i have never replaced a clutch nor do i know what a slipping clutch feels like but from what i read it doesn't seem to be the clutch. Now the odd part about today is that while driving to work on the highway it was happening then all of a sudden when i got off the highway i got a "service engine soon" light and my car legit sounds like an '70s muscle car in when in low rpms this lasted maybe 2 blocks then it stopped and went back to norm light went off... never got a check engine light nothing. whats the issue i dont get it????

Do you have a scanner or means of checking the codes? If I hade to take a guess I would say it could be VANOS related. But without codes or more info that's just a guess.

You should really invest in a BT tool or atleast an OBD2 scanner. Without codes its all a guessing game.

Your major suspects are as follows: HPFP/LPFP failure, a general misfire or VANOS. I doubt it's the first two(AFAIK neither of those will disappear without clearing codes and/or cycling the car off and on.)
