USB Audio retrofit
Hi guys
Just bought a mid '08 E92 325i M Sport. It has pro Nav, Bluetooth and voice control. I really want to look at a USB retrofit. A bit of research suggests the expensive bit of this retrofit is the MULF2 unit. I've had a look under the carpet in the back and can only find the Continental/BMW branded MOST unit. There's a big gap next to it, which is where I imagine the MULF2 unit lives, suggesting I don't have one. Therefore am I right in thinking I'll need the whole caboodle, MULF2 unit, USB, wiring and coding? Regards BBUK |

I think you're looking at the TCU, not "MOST", which for our cars (~2007 - 2010), handles phone/Bluetooth.
MULF handles only USB audio, and it installs *under* the TCU. I think that gap to the side (other side of trunk floor) is where the Sirius radio module installs - least it was in my 2009 e93. So yes, I think you need a MULF-High unit, and the USB bits. And yes, it is pricey. Ask me how I know! |

http://www.pac-audio.com/productDeta...&CategoryID=50 I have this in my 07E93. Fantastic functionality. This will prevent you from having to code anything, or even see your dealer. This unit MUST be put in bypass mode for service.

I'm a professional, so this is cake for me. I've installed several of them. The hardest part about putting this piece in is taking the car apart. It's all plug and play.

You can also try the Modbridge system. I have it install in my car and it's awesome IMO.
Check their website: http://www.mobridge.us/products/most-ipod-aux

There is one in the DIY section
There is one in the DIY section
Also is that the Gateway 500 because the model number for that is GW51M02 on there site and I don't see the other one listed on there site. As far as I know these require the CD changer option to be already enabled or you need to enable them. Last edited by ctuna; 05-10-2012 at 01:57 PM.. |

It may be P&P in some cars, but it wasn't for mine. |

Taking the car apart was the hardest part of the OEM USB retrofit as well, but that's saying a lot - nearly kicked my ass. But other than that, the kit was essentially "plug and play" - and an hour's charge for coding by my friendly dealer to get the RAD2 coded (I added the requisite items to to the VO and CAS, or whatever the hell those modules were). My total cost was on the order of $900, mostly the 6FL kit and a MULF high box. But I'm pretty happy with the functionality, plus, without iDrive, the Dension option wasn't an option.

Their website says No, so for that reason, among others, I didn't pursue it. Perhaps someone else has?
[EDIT] Just re-checked website - I misread it originally. Evidently a couple of their products have non-iDrive compatibility, just a reduced feature set. Maybe shoulda looked at it, but so far, happy with my 6FL retrofit. [EDIT 2] Looks like my original take was maybe right, based on my 2009 car - no support for non-iDrive MY 2009, like I have. Very confusing compatibility chart, at least for an old geezer. Last edited by M-Steep; 05-10-2012 at 05:46 PM.. |

Superjay can you confirm the model number
What is the name of the model you stated in the first instance.
They only thing I know that works with the most bus models is the Gateway 500 which is a little bit of an overkill for a non I drive since it does video to. I didn't see the model number you had listed on the Dension site. GW51MO2 is what is listed as BMW compatible. Last edited by ctuna; 05-11-2012 at 12:18 PM.. |

You had GWMO51 listed orginally
You had GWMO51 listed originally instead GW51M02 of since I couldn't find it I was wondering
if it was a new model or old model listing for the same thing. |
