After hours thinking of what to do with my seatbelt handover i finally pulled it out and had a look.
Have a look at the problem yourselves ![]() Passenger ![]() ![]() and here is the drivers side ![]() When i took it apart i saw this piece was loose ![]() It really is broken.. then i pulled out the working passenger side and saw whats going on. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A video showing how the knob swings correctly So the solution to this problem is to replace this plastic piece which i dont know if BMW sells it seperately, might drive to dealer and ask. ![]()

a better fix would be to just pull the fuse out. thats what i did with mine. i would love to have the handover working again but it would cost about 50 pounds to get one from a scrapyard and seeing this i kinda don't want to spend the money on it as this is the third different issue i have seen with them . mine pushed the seatbelt forward too fast and the seatbelt got locked and something in the arm's end broke / snapped and ever since it just doesnt grab it anymore

Could you see if you could do a repair on it or add a replacement metal tab?

![]() The only thing we can do is go to our dealers and ask if they can give us a replacement plastic. Keep us updated

I carefully pull it out, it wont break just make sure the door is closed and the motor of the arm is not running (when you hear nothing)

I noticed this when it happened to both the driver's and passenger's side on my car (within 3 weeks of one another). I contacted BMW since, like you, I knew that I did not need the entire assembly. I sent lots of pictures and explained the engineering flaws in the design. I do not remember the name of the guy I spoke to, but we exchanged approx 3 emails over the course of 2 weeks. Unfortunately, he told me that the part I requested (that thin piece of plastic) is not available separately. I'm not sure how much effort he really put in, but I think the best option is to try to obtain it at a scrap yard because I'm not spending $300-$400 for new assemblies when they're not needed.

omg
I wanna thank the op for this thread. I had the same situation, same driver side. I went to a junkyard, found this piece. I slid it in and voila, good as new. Originally I pulled the fuse and didn't care. It's nice to have this option back in the car. |
