I am just wondering how many people have installed dashboard camera on their vehicle? If so, do you find them useful?

Nah, I don't have any (immediate) plans to do anything shady while in my vehicle.

I guess but with big brother on every corner and video surveillance out the wazoo everywhere we drive it seems a bit overkill IMHO.

Interesting.. but why would they confiscate a camera tho? At least in Canada no....

I have a dash cam, can find it very useful for insurance reasons. Although, if the accident is your fault, better hide the camera and toss the sd card lol

I sometimes hook up a go-pro, not often though. It's fun to capture people reactions during hard turns and such

I'm thinking about getting the Blackvue DR-400g-HD. Seems like its good but I'm just not sure how useful it will be, such as in a rear end accident? It also has a "park" mode where it turns on when it detects movement, but the bad thing is that it might make your car more prone to theft.

Technically it's not an actual dash cam lol, but I'm using a kodak playsport with a mount for it. Works the same. Didn't need to spend hundreds of dollars on a camera made to put on the dash

If its a rear end accident chances are its pretty obvious, its not your fault.

actually just bought one last week, $60 on Amazon, so far I am enjoying it.. did plan on writing a review in the upcoming weeks. Not top of the line but is sort of bang for your buck.. gets the job done. i feel it is sort of impractical unless it is hardwired but then that becomes just a little "too much".. the one i bought records over older files when fill, does 720p and 1080. the only problem or caveat i find is the sound when it shifts around during bumps and such.. pretty annoying.

Quick video, 1080p scaled down to 720p... the sound bothers me to no end but..
