335d emissions recall campaign number 11E-A03

I just received this letter in the mail. Something tells me that by performing this recall, they're going to strangle the car with even more restrictive exhaust and emissions systems, neuter it with a power sapping software update, and choke the engine so that it loses efficiency. Thank you once again, ridiculous federal emissions regulations, for being a major pain in the ass.

Or am I just being cynical here?

The hippies believe that our diesels are more pollutant than manufacturing their Prius..

I wouldn't doubt what you are saying will come true.

I hope not, it would really suck if we were to sacrifice anything due to this recall

My car's service engine soon light came on over the weekend and it appears to be NOx catalyst related (P20EE code). So there may actually be a correlation between the recall and the repair requirements. I'll know more on Friday, when I drop it off. Will keep you all posted.

I'm not a crazy "greenie," but I have absolutely no problems with tightening emissions. Having spent time in Asian cities where the air is brown you can barely breathe due to car pollution, I'll take a newer cleaner catalyst under warranty over asthma and health issues. Compare the air quality in LA now to what it was 30 years ago and we should all be thankful for emissions equipment!

Thanks, ask them if they can ask BMW Engineering for technical info about the remap.

Also, PM sent regarding your tail lights.

Based on this description:

..and the wording in the recall notice, I think it has more to do with how the various emission systems adjust over time (and mileage).
