Laptop Mount for datalogging? Anyone have?
Anticipating my tune to get here, I'd like to have something sturdy to mount my laptop to instead of it flopping around in the passenger seat.
Has anyone found a stand/mount that works in E9x's? Solutions? |

Passenger? You've gotta have at least one friend who'd help out

I've never had an issue with the laptop in the passenger seat. If you ever have to break hard it means you're datalogging in traffic... which you probably shouldn't be doing

this. I've custom build a netbook mount for my car but i always end up just using the passenger seat +seat belt. mounts are cumbersome if you have passenger.

I am using a wallet placed in the adjustable thigh support hole from the (sport) seat. Then I adjust the thigh support to hold the wallet vertically. When I brake, if the laptop moves the wallet will eventually prevent the laptop from flying from the seat.

I bought a cheap netbook, put an SSD in it and it works well, and doesn't crash the hard-drive even if it does go flying. It's actually so small I can put it on my center console behind the shifter since I've got an AT.
As a bonus, the battery lasts 9hrs with wifi off, and it comes back from sleep almost instantly because of the SSD. I still need to do some coding to make the JB4 software auto-log, would be nice not to have to think about it at the track. |

ever since she helped me install my JB4, i knew she was a keeper. yes - i admit that she helped me LOL. it's super convenient to have her around whenever help is needed, and she's into it. or at least she says she is. LOL. either way, it's all good.

I wouldn't waste money on a laptop mount unless you really needed it or plan on using it besides on data-logging. Grab a friend or use your seat belt.

Terrific input. Not.
I secure the laptop same way cstavaru does - but I use my iPhone. It secures the laptop in case I need to brake hard.
