Fobs, Torches, Boots & Beeps
Hi guys,
I've had my car a while now and have accumulated a few q's if thats ok... 1) I've read a few times that there should be an "emergency" or "valet" key in the glovebox... is that what I'm missing here? 2) or am I missing a rechargeable torch? 3) Where is the switch (apparently located in the glovebox) to lock the boot so I can just give somebody the body of the key and keep the inner (actual key-looking section) bit - hence enabling me to lock away things in the glovebox and boot? 4) Is there any hidden setting somewhere to enable audible beeps when locking and unlocking the car? I miss the acknowledgement for piece of mind from past cars... That is all

I've always wondered about that slot in the glove box too.

The audible beep is missing due to UK regulations (regarding noise I assume) but can be coded back in if you don't mind shelling out some wonga to BMW, provided they're prepared to do it, but I dread to think how much they'll charge!

You are missing torch in that photo.
You will need to code your car to do that, or indy with autologic should be able to help.

Yup, torch holder. Non rechargeable.
Emergency key (and its perch in the glovebox) went in about 07. I'm trying to think if my 06 E90 had a boot lock switch in the glovebox? Maybe a pre-LCI thing? They changed the boot locking philosophy in about 07, you used to be able to open the boot with your fob WHILST the car was still locked, but now you have to unlock the car first, then you can open the boot with your fob. & what a ridiculous idea it is, unlocking the car even though I only want to put some shopping in the boot - any idea why UK cars are like this?

Mrs Statler's 2012 Jag XF allows the boot to open from the fob and locks automatically when closed again. And I've checked, if the keys are in the boot it won't lock!
