transmission knocking/popping sound?

I posted this on the N54 forum and have had no responses. Hopefully posting it here I can get some information from fellow xi drivers.

I'm having an issue where if I don't shift very smoothly or I let off the clutch too fast, I get a popping/knocking sound that sounds like its coming from the transmission.

I drive an '08 xi 6MT. When I shift smoothly, nothing happens. I only hear it on those jerky every once in a while sloppy shifts. I just want to know if this is normal. I'm still under warranty through next month, and I'm trying to avoid taking it in for them to tell me theres no issues or that it's normal.

I would start by looking for play in driveline connections starting with the driveshaft, then going to the differentials then the cv axles...

Take it in your under warranty, if you take it in prior to the warranty coming up you may get a good faith fix, since you attempted to address the issue.

Hell I took mine in for a tick, ended up being the purge valves.

I get that noise too if I don't handle the clutch smoothly at low speeds i.e. 1-2 shifts. Quite noticeable in my parkade when windows are rolled down. It's been like that ever since I bought the car in 07 and I just mitigate it by shifting/clutching as smoothly as possible.

Yea, I just cant used to this damn CDV. I'm going to get the modifed CDV since I've alwaysed driven a manual and it makes shifting really weird and uncomfortable. It's not what I'm used to..
