Have all the N52 guys been switching to the N54/55 platform lately? I must have seen like 5-6 guys in the last month alone making the switch.
I swear the 335 despite all it's problems somehow became the most desirable BMW out there. |

Same car but faster. The regret may or may not happen later if it is constantly broken.

I believe this trend will turn into a M3-switch once that S65 V8 will near the end of its production.

I don't think it has anything to do with desirability. I think it has to do with cost. A 335i is a cheap car now, so people are buying at the same price point they bought an N52 at. It is natural progression. Someone who is affording/buying a $25K car might have started with a used E46(when they were going for mid 20s), went to an N52 E90 (when they were going for mid 20s), now the N54 is in the mid 20s.

What I paid for my 08 E92 328xi over a year ago I could've bought a loaded 09 E92 335 now with same miles.
E9Xs are just getting cheap, period. Feel sorry for the poor suckers in the upcoming years buying beat up tuned 335s with bad turbos, waste gate rattles, HPFP issues, and so on. |

I can't justify the switch yet. I love my e90 330i and I don't feel that I need any more power. The car feels just right, but I do have a few nice mods. I will wait until "4" series grand coupe (4 dr) and next gen M3 come out. Then I might decide to splurge. Until then I will be happy driving this fine reliable paid-off machine. |

The average n54 owner doesn't have nearly as many problems with the car as you guys are so afraid of.
For a daily driven 400+ hp car it's pretty damn reliable. 2 fuel pumps (free) in 72k, worth it I hear more problems with the n52 water pumps than n54... |
