Discount Tires

So... last Tuesday i looked at my rear tires, and realized that their are gone. As in thread is showing. Front ones are pretty bad too. I knew they were getting bad, but not THAT bad. 15,000 miles of driving in "harsh" San Diego weather, and they are completely destroyed.

Anyway, I didn't feel like shelling out $1600+tax+labor for PZero's, so I hit up Discount Tires to see what they got. Conti Pro's for $1191 installed.

I go in, pay in full and get told that my tires will be here on Friday morning and they will call me as soon as they get in. No call. I call them Saturday morning, and they tell me that the tires will be here "any minute now" and that they will call me minute they get in. No call on Saturday. Sunday they are closed. Call them yesterday at 11am and they say the same thing. Since then no call. It's 8:30pm on Tuesday right now. This is fucked up. I've always had good luck with them. And now my week got so busy, that I won't be able to get there before Saturday... crap.

Except the dealer no one else in town has them in stock, so other tire shops will also have to order them.

Should I do the chargeback on my Amex, go elsewhere and have these fuckers stuck with tires that don't fit any other car? Or stop bitching and wait?

I'd wait. I would also ask to speak to the GM when you finally do get the call that they are available to be installed, and I would demand a credit like 1 of those tires for free or something!

Doing a chargeback on the Amex without even asking for a refund from the place is a total dick move......

Ah, I forgot to mention. I did ask for a refund when i called on Monday morning, but they won't give it to me because the tires have been already ordered.

while i agree a wrongdoing has been comitted by the tire place, there is no reason to file a chargeback or demand one free tire. both of those claims are outright ridiculous.

what i would do is beat them down on the labor. you obviously need tires, and a big place like discount tires isn't out there to take your money and run.

ask for a manager, and get things sorted out politely and properly.

Are YOU stupid?! Many tire places you buy 3 get one free? What's wrong with trying to negotiate some sort of deal after they've been jerking the OP around!

unless you are buying achilles tires for a pickup truck, i have never ever in my 3 decades of life seen PERFORMANCE tires 4 for price of 3.

please, take me to your tire dealer!!!!!!

True. The biggest deal I've seen is getting the 4th for half off, and even that is a rarity.
