800 miles and a Nail in the Runflat already !
Tyre warning came in last night, checked the pressure it was low 31psi and found a nail in the centre of the tyre, so phoned my local Dealer, I have tyre and alloy wheel Insurance, so went straight there and got a new one fitted 255/35/r18 but £360 fitted is steep, had to pay £110 of that cause Insurance only covers £250 per tyre, the joys of Runflats !!

Indeed!
I'd have paid £15.00 quid for a repair. £250.00 supplied by Camskill - £10.00 to fit http://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b745s38..._Series_BMW_Z4 |

That is harsh. Both the puncture and the cost.
What do you pay for tyre insurance? Is it really worth it if the tyre insurance doesn't even cover the cost of a tyre? |

Fortunately, and in someways similar to BMW, the SC Balmoral pram comes fitted with non run flats,so the offspring of Balmoral owners have a much comfier ride. Owners of the Kensington have been contacting Camskill in there droves, wanting to change to non run flats, and being warned by a very officious individual about both the insurance and warranty implications of carrying out such a modification. Thankfully Silver Cross also use a different wheel manufacturer to BMW,so running runflats does not result in cracked wheels. You really couldn't make it up could you! |

The tyre\alloy insurance sounds pretty good value to be honest but the replacement tyre...not so much. Sorry but you have been ripped off. Their is no way on earth a 18" RFT should cost £350, even from a dealer. Sounds like they are trying to recoup the costs of the tyre insurance back.
Also for some reason RFT's seem to be puncture magnets. I've had to in the last year on mine. Previous to that I've probably only had 2 in 20 years of motoring and by all accounts I am not an isolated case. |
