Earthquake SWS-8 sub face down?

The stock subs are mounted face down. The stock enclosure is also designed to be ported to accommodate this. However, I noticed everyone is mounting the SWS-8 faced up. I understand there might be a clearance issue with the seat but have also heard one person using washers to raise the seat a little bit to remedy this. Has anyone else mounted the SWS 8 faced down and notice a difference in sound quality compared to facing them up?

The sound from the front of the cone isn't much different from the sound coming from the rear of the cone. If anything it's better to have them mounted with the cone facing up since the enclosures arent really ported. Also I dont think there is clearance even with a large spacer since part of the speaker is under the seat rail.

They didn't. The magnet is top mounted, instead of bottom mounted.

If you have a base Stereo car, they aren't subs, but they are upside down, because face up, they don't fit. In case you haven't seen the Stereo 6.5 out of the enclosure, they are really sucky speakers.

I wouldn't call them upside down. They're an inverted motor design

The 8" is front-motor. The 6.5 is an upside-down POS with cheesecloth covering the frame. I don't have a pic with the cloth torn off, but it is obviously a standard-design driver once you take the cloth off.
