09 E93 CIC - 64Gb USB flash drive keeps disconnecting.

I just picked up an 09 cabrio with CIC. I'm having an issue that my USB memory stick is disconnecting. I loaded the USB with 64G of music, plugged it into the console and browsed to the music. I can see all the files and directories, and even begin to play music from it. But about 10 seconds into a song playback quits and just freezes. If I back out all the way to select the USB again I can see the files again and play music again for about 10 seconds.

What's going on here?

Have you tried an iPod there? My USB/Aux connection (which becomes iPod when activated) kept failing like that and the solution was to buy a new socket.

Garage List
Try plugging it into the USB in the glovebox. There you can also select "import music" and just download it to your hard drive. Helps if you make folders on the stick first though

Could be your socket. My 64gb works amazing. 09 CIC also.

Yes, the USB / aux socket is around $40.

Try a different brand thumb drive. I had the same problem with a HP drive, i switched to a kingston and it always hooks right up...

strange problem... I run ubuntu natively and repartitioned the flash as fat32 and reformatted. Still was intermittent. So on a whim I repartitioned and formatted inwindows and copied over the EXACT same library of mp3's. All working now. Wonder what linux does to the drive to flake out the CIC?
