Thumbs down I got banned from BMW Authohaus Thornhill for trying to book an appointment.

I have a serious issue on my 335XI with the locks and gas door--they don't open at all. The only door that I can open is the driver door with a key. That is also the only door people can enter and escape from at any time even in an emergency. I'm not 100% what the problem is that's why I wanted to take it to BMW to check it out and also service was due. BMW Autohaus is close to me and the rest are far.

Appointments were booked for a month or so and they said they'll call me back when one is free. After two weeks, I called again and said that I'd just book a date but they insisted that they will call back. A week passed by and asked them again about it and they said they'll call back again. I was being patient, there was never an argument, never asked for priority nor did the girl ever get mad. After, the service manager wanted to talk to me regarding it. A few days ago I talked to him and he said my account is flagged and am banned from BMW Autohaus and cannot go there anymore. He wouldn't tell me why, so I had to call corporate who called Autohaus who explained to corporate that I kept "annoying" them for appointments. I don't know if the service receptionist thought I was being rude, or was a having a bad day because as far I know I called once or twice a week within a month and a half at most. I said I would apologize to her but he said there is nothing that can be done.

Last time I went there for service one of their employees hit my car in their parking lot and totalled my door. However they did pay for everything, lent me an X6, and the service consultant was very nice to me (who still is) and assured me that there would be nothing written about it. Never had a complaint and never discredited their service department despite smashing my entire door and all the negative reviews online.

I'm planning to report this to the BBB and just visiting a local car shop if they can fix the issue. But until then the horror stories of BMW Autohaus are true and I guess they don't want my business either. Being banned trying to get an appointment... seems like a first.

I know they got a bad rep online but this takes the cake. You should ask corporate if this is how they want their dealerships to operate and reflect the BMW ownership experience? It might be worth giving Toronto, Parkview, and Maranello a try. In terms of indy you could do the bimmersport, rmp route or try alphawerx auto given where you seem to be located. They don't have a strong a rep as they other 2 yet but Darren is good to deal with.

Autohaus is a terrible dealership - their sales staff as well as their service staff, finance and management teams as well all below expectations (significantly below).

Go to BMW Toronto or Endras. Autohaus is rated the worst BMW dealership in the GTA as well. When the door locks on my 3 went out (its a simple fix fuse and actuator) BMW Toronto made an emergency appointment - I was in service in 2 days and issue was fixed. They deserved the top ratings on the survey.

Write a letter to Corporate detailing the events and the severity of the situation and just state the facts on how Autohaus treated you. Let corporate deal with it - Im sure with all the people they are screwing over, there are likely a pile of letters at corporate complaining about their poor attitude anyways.

Take your business elsewhere, they provide poor service at best anyways.

I called corporate and they said that they are independently owned and there isn't too much they can do. The girl at corporate even said it was ridiculous. Might give them a call later on.

I just got banned shopping there too a few weeks ago. The new car sales mgr, Alex S. emailed me that I am not welcomed to his dealership because I cross shopped with other dealers and making them compete with each other so one can earn my business.

In addition, he also emailed to other new car sales managers (BMW dealers in the GTA) to warn not to do business with me. Apparently, his tactics does not work as I spoke to one of the GTA dealer sales manager last week and he just had a laugh at that dealership's childish behaviour.

May just be a fuse, it was for me at least. Wasn't worth waiting at a dealership so I replaced it for a couple of bucks myself.

I won't be surprised if I see more people post here about being banned from Autohaus.

BBB won't do anything btw. I reported a moving company that held my stuff hostage unless I paid them more money. Had to meet the guys in a parking lot with my own box truck and drive that myself (AND move into my place myself with a buddy).

I would take your complaint to BMW Canada. The last thing they want is someone running BMW Canada's name in the mud because of lousy service. From what you're saying about BMW Autohaus, they're really making the stereotype of BMW owners as being stuck-up pricks. (when in reality I'm finding a lot of Audi owners are becoming that lol)

http://www.bmw.ca/ca/en/general/contact/contact.html

Btw, BMW Canada replies back and they do so fast. I called them a few years ago with concerns with regards to the HPFP. They took care of it and they even followed up with the dealership to make sure I had my HPFP replaced.

I believe its illegal to open a retail business and not allow one particular person to enter...Only way I think it would be legal is if they had a court order stating you must 100ft away from the premises.

Also when you purchase the car, the terms and condition state that your warranty services can be completed in ALL BMW DEALERSHIP within Canada. To reject/ban you from inspection of a possible issue that complies with your Warranty agreement, would directly contradict the terms of sale.

FYI BMW Canada will be able to mediate but not solve your issue. As dealership are considered privately owned, and can operate how they see fit as long as it does not stray "Far" from BMW AG dealership standards. Best place to get involve, is BMW AG head quarters in Munich, Im sure someone would turn a eye when they see "Banned from BMW Autohaus Dealership Thornhill Canada"

Damn man, that's crazy!

I think you should go in person and discuss with the manager. Have a recorder so you can record the conversation in case they are rude in person.

Then complain to BMW Canada, North America and the head office.

Then sue them for defamation or similar - use the recorded conversation as a proof. And use one of those "you pay only if you win" lawyers.

Can't believe a BMW dealership can survive this long with their bad service. 10 years ago I got ordered my 330xi from BMW Autohaus. I ordered the car with CD Changer but they messed up the order and the car came without it. So after waiting for a month for the CD changer to come I decided to cancel it and ask for my money back. I can't remember the exact price since it was so long ago but I think it was a $750 option. When I went to get the money they gave me a check for $5xx. They told me their cost is $5xx, that why they are refunding me that amount. That is the stupidest thing I ever heard, I paid $750 for that option I don't care what your cost is!!! It took alot of phone calls before finally getting the full amount back. Another time I took my car in for service and when I picked it up I notice a very long scratch with yellow paint on my side skirt, they told me they couldn't have made the scratch because they didn't have anything that was painted yellow at the dealership. Are you kidding me!!! all the arms on hoist in the garage are YELLOW!!!!! My car was lowered so the mechanic probably just kicked arms under my car not realizing that it won't clear. They did repaint my side skirt in the end but that was after alot of phone calls. I hate them so much I had to make this post after so many years cause they think I am stupid haha

I would not give a dealership like the time or day. The dealership gets money for doing service work. I would just take my car and business else where. I would also not buy a car from them if they were the last dealership on planet.

Okay......ill take that back....if they were the last dealership in the world....I would consider them....but all the time protestinglly.......let me just quit that is not even a word.

One month for a service appointment? I have never had to wait for a month for one. The longest I had to wait was 2 weeks, and that's because I wanted a loaner. (Parkview)

Is your car a Canadian car? Where did you purchase the car?

As I was reading this, I was saying to myself: this is very similar to what I have experienced with the Autohuas BMW!!
I have a very bad experience with Autohaus BMW recently also. I bought a 2011 335i Xdrive special edition. And had the service engine light problem 2 weeks after I have the car, and it was less than 2000km. Took it back to them, and the SA said they are going to charge me for resetting the code if it was due to the gas cap being not close tight enough. They did claim that it was due to the gap cap!! I freaked out because I knew it was not due to that! And 3 weeks after, the light came back on again. I took it back and they said they found out where the problem is and replaced the DTML valve. Got me car back and drove for not even 2 days and the light was on again! Not only that, I found that they had caused a dent to my car at the side and a scratch to front. Called them and talked to the assistance manager, and he denied that they were caused by them. Fortunately, the inspection sheet when they took my car did not show those problem! He promised to get it fix and they did but the job was poorly done! And i noticed that they have put more that 150km on my card and they said they have to test drive it to make sure the problem it fixed!!
Anyway they replaced the DTML pump and it has been 2 months now and the problem has not come back!

If someone knows the owners email address they should send him/her a link of this thread. Although, things might be so wretched over there as a result of leadership on the owners level.

Some of the stuff you guys are mentioning is purely comical and should be coming out of a seinfield episode.

Don't give them any business if they don't want to treat their customers properly. As a matter of fact, I think you should be happy that they did not take your business. The situation could be alot worst if they had your car in possession.

That's silly. Auto shopping is the second largest purchase for most consumers. I don't see anything wrong with working with multiple dealerships to get the best price and service.
