I've tried all 3 tunes - My thoughts
I just wanted to write an unbiased review of all 3 of the major tunes Cobb, JB4 and Vishnu. I have had my 2010 335i for a little over a year now and tried the COBB and JB4 for several months each, I have only had the Vishnu Procede for a couple of weeks. My car has FBO, no Meth. In order of ascending ranking:
3. COBB: This tune ran very rough on my car, seemed very unrefined. I ran both the stage 1 and stage 2+ maps. I did not care for the way this tune ran at all. The only pro was the installation but honestly it takes just as long to load as it does to install a piggyback. Car fell flat on its face over 5,000 RPMs, seemed to struggle through the powerband, it was just a bad overall experience. 2. JB4: Almost perfect, for the price at the time I thought it was a steal and would have it on my car forever. Much smoother than COBB and I felt that it had more power than COBB especially the new Map 5, definitely a great tune, also loved the steering wheel controls and on the fly map switching, code reading and clearing. Plus Terry is an awesome guy to deal with, he replies to emails in 5 mins. 1. Vishnu Procede: When the 2.5 SE was released at $495 I figured I would try it and could sell it for most of my money back if I didn't like it since it's not VIN locked. Well, I wont be selling this unit. I've found what I believe is the best tune for this platform. The car just plain runs better, even the exhaust note sounds better. There really is something to be said for the way it controls boost over the JB4 and the ignition timing correction must be helping as well. It's just pure smooth power to red line. Pulls hard all they way through to red line without any feeling of hesitation or hiccup I experienced on Cobb. Torque it there in spades, I'm running the 4/23 aggressive maps and on MAP 2 it's almost scary how much power is delivered. Its not just the raw power but the way its delivered, its so hard to explain you have to experience it, it's just natural, the car pulls so smoothly and silently that you have to be careful, I was driving home tonight on a road with a posted limit of 30, when my radar detector went off, could have sworn I was going 35-40, I was going 59...I really have to get used to these maps, they are butter. Also, if you look at pictures of what's inside the box of the Procede and the JB4 you will see how much more advanced this device is, it's truly a mini computer. In summary I would not hesitate to recommend the JB4 its a great product but with the Procede now at the same price it's my number 1 choice. It's by far the best, most refined and technologically advanced of the 3 tunes I have tried. |

You do know that map 2 is the methanol map with no fail safe.
Perhaps you meant stage 2. Anyway thanks for sharing.

Still that does not mean that my honest opinion does not matter based on my number of posts, get over yourself man, you are no better than anyone else no matter how long you have been here.

Nice review. It is you're honest opinion. And there is nothing wrong with that. Thanks for the input. I'm sure it will be usefull to others.
Just because someone has only 28 posts doesn't mean that they are not knowledgable. Maybe they have better things to do with their time than to be on the forums posting useless input. |

My only problem with your review is the time lapse between the different tunes. Just from looking at your previous posts, you were trying the COBB Stage 2+FMIC maps when it was still in the Beta Stage -- Not even the current (and approved) v301 Maps & COBB is currently finishing up on the v4 Beta Maps.
It's not exactly an accurate review (or a surprise) that the most recent tune you used (PROcede) came out on top, and that the oldest one (COBB) came out on bottom. |

If the op had said the Cobb or jb4 was the winner, I imagine this thread would have a different tone. This forum has more politics than my government employer.
