1st 335i with upgraded turbo in Seattle area?

WG on my bank one turbo started to rattle more than 2 years ago and half year ago I found the turbo seal is going bad on the same turbo. I was burning a quart of oil every month and I couldn't stand that anymore.

After 3 months of wait, the fix finally gets here.

The entire things were well packed.

What's inside the box is more important I guess.

how long should the oil be lasting? I've been topping off the oil quite often as well.

I never had to refill any oil during maintenance periods before the turbo seal went bad.

$3360 shipped of which $300 is the core charge. I think RB has never changed the pricing since it was released 2-3 years ago.

The shop finished the turbo swap yesterday. As soon as I started the engine, I noticed the wastegate rattle while idling disappeared. The car sounded like how it should be. And of course, no more white smoke coming off my driver side exhaust.

I drove it back to Bellevue with map 0 because I forgot to bring my laptop with me. Couldn't change the mapping for the tune. On the way back, I could hear the turbo spool whenever I pushed it a little bit. I didn't want to go WOT cuz I believe there is a break-in period for the new turbo charger.

As soon as I got home, I uploaded the latest map (5_23_12) for upgraded turbo. Currently running on map 1 because I don't plan on turning on the methanol injection before the break-in period. The Procede wastegate position setting went back to default, 90. No longer need to set it at 30. The exhaust note is slightly deeper after the adjustment.

So far, these are the impressions after 1st day of driving. Once the break-in period is over, I'll turn on the meth and provide some logs. Please let me know if anyone is interested in a group dyno at Carb Connection.
