UPDATE: Pricing for CIC (hard disc-based) navigate map update (BMW Canada)

BMW Canada updated the pricing for CIC navigation map updates on June 7th and has sent the update to all dealers. My experience has shown that some local dealers may not see the updated price right away, but you can ask them to double check. The price has indeed been changed by BMW Canada.

Previously the price point was ~$535 and it is now set at $195, which is aligned with the pricing for the dvd update on older models.

The update still has to be done at a dealer, by BMW service and requires 1hr of labour to complete.

This must be a most deserved, non-intentional consequence of the proliferation of aftermarket "coders" updating maps for a fraction of the absolutely absurd, increased OEM old update price.

at least it's a bit more reasonable now, where "reasonable" is relative to the old price point - that was asking a bit much from anyone.

so it's $195 plus labour? Are there any coders or companies who can do this remotely for us instead of the dealership?

right, $195 plus an hour labour - depending how much an hr is worth at your dealer. check around. I haven't heard of anyone else doing it.
