I've reached the point where I am pushing the car hard enough on the track to where the stock disks and calipers are not able to last a full 20 minute session without heat issues. It is getting so bad that every time I go to the track, I loose wheel weights because the wheels get extremely hot. Yes, I've used the aluminium duct foil trick and that does not seem to provide a solution.

I can't justify spending $7K on Brembo or Stoptech BBK on a car that sits 5 days out of the week in the garage, sees less than 7000 miles per year and perhaps 10 track days per season.

With that being said, where can I purchase Rotora BBK for my car?

For your brake issue, I think you've got to look at two separate issues... one, will the upgrade you're considering actually improve your heat dissipation? And second, will you be able to get brake pads that are appropriate for the track for that brake setup.

For the rotora setup, I have no idea what the pad availability is, or if anyone has used this thing at the track, whether the rotors hold up, whether the pad heat range is appropriate, etc... I don't think people have really used it aside from for looks.

With the issues you are seeing, I would look into Racing Brake's setups. Do a quick search and you'll see what products they offer.

have you considered maybe aftermarket discs + race pads + braided brake lines (im assuming you have already upgraded your brake fluid). i think the correct combination of these will offer you the brake duration you're looking for at the fraction of the price of a BBK. i also saw something on this forum a while back abotu someone who had made custom piping from the brake air ducts to deliver air directly onto the rotors... maybe something you can look into as well to help cool the brakes

All good points. To add some clarification that I should have in my first post:

1. OEM rotors
2. ECS Tuning braided lines - all 6 of them
3. Motul 600F fluid
4. Porterfield R4-S pads - Wore those out in 1 session @ Gingerman


I just placed an order for a new set of OEM rotors and some Performance Friction Pads with 08 compound. If that does not improve things, I guess I'll need to look into other options.


As far as Rotora goes, this was the only budget BBK kit that I could find. Yes, I know that RB offers nice rotors and calipers, but I am concerned about the pad availability. I've not found any good reviews for KSport BBKs either.

RB Rotors look very very tempting. If the heat situation does not improve, I might have to get a pair.

Yeah, I saw this as well. Nashin is new to me as well and if I am spending money on brakes, I want something that's been on the market for a while. You don't just show up on forums and start selling stuff that noone has heard of without proper testing. Brakes are critical safety component and I am extra cautious with it.

Nice suggestion though.

Gotta say the Nashin stuff looks to be much higher quality (just from the pictures I've seen on the internet) than the Rotora stuff. Particularly the 380mm Nashin kit with the monobloc calipers.

Now the pad availability, and appropriateness of pad heat choices, another matter.

yea apparently nashin has been behind the scenes for about 16 years now and supplying brakes in motorsports. but might be something if we can find some reviews on their products... i found one review by a vendor that sells them also but looks like the link is getting blocked on here because its of another bmw forum

Go with stoptech. The price is only a couple hundred bucks different, and you'll get the known brand.

The nashin kit loooks great, but if you don't want to innovate to save a few hundo, then go with stoptech.

It's not really a few hundred different - the Nashin kit advertised by Advan was in the $4000 range for a front AND rear kit... Stoptech is ~3100 for a front kit only...

That's pretty significant savings.

10 track days a year would justify a good BBK for me. AP Racing offers a cheaper BBK for the 335i but which is still heaps superior to the stock setup.

AP Racing sounds good. But I can't find prices or vendors that carry those. Any suggestions?

Check with TMS and **********s for actual prices for Stoptech. The pricing won't be list price so you'll be getting a discount.
I had pricing from TMS and **********s within $100 of each other with free shipping.
I don't want to quote prices now because I got mine 5 years ago, but I paid a little over $5K both front and rear.

Stillen carries the 335i AP Racing kit I believe.

Hey mate here is some info from my Nashin BBK thread, that may be of interest to you.

The company behind Nashin brake components is S-Meng Industrial Co.,Ltd and was registered as a company in Taiwan in 1994, their first brake rotor was released to the public shortly thereafter. They were also the first Taiwanese company to produce a "floating" rotor.

The factory itself is very much a professional operation, all the components are assembled by hand and undergo rigorous QC checks prior to shipment.

Whilst it's true that their "Monobloc" caliper has only been available for a few years (2009 in fact), their 2-piece "Billet Forged" calipers and 2-piece "Floating" rotors have been available for many many years, as their R&D had focused primarily on race car application within Asia.

In recent years Nashin has worked very hard to develop an extensive range of components that allows for a direct fit, OE upgrade on a wide range of motor vehicles, as illustrated in their comprehensive 2012 application guide.

I have asked Peter the owner and Chief Mechanic of Advan performance, to chime in here when time permits.

He has not only installed many Nashin BBK's on purpose built high horespower Skyline GTR race cars over the last 5-6 years, but he has driven at numerous race tracks here in Aus' with all the big name brake kits under his foot, including Nashin of course.

I suspect all those punters that want Brembo, StopTech & AP Racing performance at considerably less cost, will find his circuit racing experinces with Nashin BBK's to be most interesting indeed.

We are a few nuts here tracking our 335s. None of us feel we need to go BBK. With the right pads and tires, you should be okay. Brake harder, but for shorter duration. Perhaps, try the 2-piece rotors first .....

With the 2-piece rotors, even HP+, which is an entry level track pad is sufficient for me (I run in advanced/solo). But I am waiting for the PFC 08, which I can already say will be sufficient for my purposes.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. No, I am not riding the brakes. I brake hard, on the verge of ABS kicking in and I brake late. I do not ride the brakes.

Our cars are heavy and I am running full weight. My PFC 08 pads along with new rotors will be coming in this week. I'll do another brake flush just for good measure when I replace the brakes. Hopefully this will solve the issues that I am seeing.
